It is official. The new Xbox 360 dashboard is available, with all of the additional content provides and Windows 8-esque tiles with more Metro styling. Xbox 360 sees biggest sales this year on Black Friday weekend

Microsoft is rolling in a ton of excitement and cash for the Kinect and Xbox 360. About 960,000 Xbox 360 consoles and more than 750,000 Kinect controllers were sold last week. Microsoft also confirmed that more than 800,000 of the consoles it sold last week were purchased on Black Friday alone. That in itself are some amazing sales statistics. And with that, the Xbox 360 continues to remain the dominant home gaming console on the market.

MSFT’s announcement:

Entering the seventh year of its lifecycle, Xbox 360 just closed the biggest sales week in the history of Xbox, selling more than 960,000 consoles in the U.S. during the week of Black Friday.

Microsoft’s retail partners are equally excited about our sales performance this holiday.

“We have seen tremendous excitement from customers for our hot holiday gaming offers,” said Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of Home Entertainment at Best Buy. “Xbox 360 was among the best-sellers at Best Buy this Black Friday, and is a testament to the continued popularity of the gaming category this holiday.”

Sales highlights in the U.S. during the week of Black Friday include:

Xbox 360 sold more than 960,000 consoles in the U.S. alone, of which more than 800,000 were sold within a period of 24 hours – the biggest week of sales in Xbox history. (Source: Internal data)

New Xbox 360 Dashboard Launching On December 6th

So now that it’s official, that shiny, new Windows Phone-esque Xbox 360 Dashboard will be launching December 6th, to all users. Besides the new look, there’s Kinect voice recognition, as well as new apps and TV. And considering a few of you are using the beta, some people already know how awesome the new Xbox 360 Dashboard is. That is until, December 6th, of course. Microsoft Celebrates 10 Years Of Xbox

Microsoft Still Leads With Xbox 360 Console Sales At 306,000 Units

Well, huzzah for the Xbox 360, the leading home games console for the past few months! Jumping up from a July decrease, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft managed to sell 306,000 units, despite the low amount of blockbuster games, however with some promise as September and November being months that three major games launch for the Xbox 360 — Minecraft, Battlefield 3, and Modern Warfare 3. And keep in mind the Xbox 360 will soon have a slurry of limited edition systems, so demand may very well increase again. Via: GameSpot
