Windows drivers for the Magic Mouse should work like magic

windows-magic-mouse-hack-600

A smart hack extracted the drivers from Boot Camp, which allowed users on Macs that are running Windows to use the Magic Mouse in Windows. That driver has been extracted and is available to all who wish to use the magical Magic Mouse on their Windows PC; which in the end becomes magical. I’ll stop using the “magical” reference now.  Hit Uneasy Silence for the drivers.

Windows 7 Official Pricing

Windows_7_packaging copyThat’s right Windows Fanboys. The Official Windows 7 Pricing.

Previously, Home Premium was $150, now $50, Professional $200, now $100, and Ultimate is staying Ultimate, at $220 (ouch.)

People in the US, Canada or Japan who already have a PC running XP or Vista get these prices via pre-order starting June 26, 2009. Pre-ordering starts Friday at the Microsoft Store and “Major Retailers”.

Remember this is a limited time sale, because of stock. (There’s always a catch, huh?)

So if you want Windows 7, and have a PC, that’s what you’ll be paying.

Here’s info for people who are buying a PC starting on June 26, 2009. If you buy a new PC starting June 26, and you have Home Premium, you get a free Windows 7 Home Premium on October 22, 2009. The date that everyone gets Windows 7.

These prices below are the estimated retail prices. Upgrades mean people who already have a PC after the limited time pre-ordering session.  Full versions are for people who are building a PC.

(Very complicated right?)

Windows 7 Home Premium: $120 for upgrade; $200 for full version
Windows 7 Professional: $200 for upgrade; $300 for full version
Windows 7 Ultimate: $220 for upgrade; $320 for full version

So anyway now we know how much we will be paying for Windows 7!

Windows 7 Official Box Art from Windows Blog

Windows_7_packagingIt’s finally here: The Official Windows 7 Box art from the Windows Blog.

Taking a closer look at the Windows Logo box art shows objects from the crazy Windows 7 backgrounds. The package costs less, looks pretty okay, and is good for the environment.

Here’s another photo of the inside:

Windows_7_package_openIt’s nice to know that Windows 7 will be very playful in the sense that everything has a touch to it, much like Mac OS X.

Comment below on what you think of the new box art!

Microsoft does it again: Windows XP till 2011

800px-Microsoft_Windows_XP_Logo

Put your Windows XP caps on, Windows XP isn’t dying until 2011. It was supposed to be dead on July 31st, 2009! The availability to downgrade to Windows XP for businesses goes as far as April 23rd, 2011. The reason for this delay is that this will get companies to make an easier switch to Windows 7.  So what that means is that Windows XP will be available 18 months after the release of Windows 7 or the first service pack (SP1). Basically, which ever is sooner.

Windows 7 RC
