Walmart Publishes HTC EVO Shift 4G Specs Before Announcement, Pisses Someone Off

The employees at Walmart? They just earned a place in our hearts for publishing a page with all the press shots and final specs of the EVO Shift 4G you could ever possibly imagine. First off, the specs of the second slide-out QWERTY 4G WiMAX handset on a little network we like to call Sprint:

  • 3.7-inch 800 x 480-pixel touchscreen display
  • Slide-out QWERTY keyboard
  • Android 2.2 OS with Sense UI
  • 8-megapixel camera, dual-LED flash, digital zoon, video capture support
  • Sprint 3G/4G compatibility
  • MicroSDHC support (up to 32 GB)
  • Up to 312 minutes of talk time, up to 146 hours of standby per charge
  • 4.63 x 2.3 x .47 in
  • 4.6 oz

Besides Verizon definitely getting ready to unleash 4G LTE handsets at CES this year, Sprint seems to have a good agenda as well. More shots of the EVO Shift 4G at the ‘via’ link. Via: Walmart

Walmart is crazy: The new Palm Pixi price is now $30 bucks

walmart-pixi-deal

I understand you’re a discount retailer. And I understand you price things differently than everyone else does. But I don’t understand how you could make the already-cheap Palm Pixi, 30-stinkin-bucks. Yes, that’s what Walmart is doing right now on their site. And the Palm Pixi is backordered. BusinessWeek in the meantime doesn’t really like it:

Amortized over the required two-year contract, with the cheapest offering being Sprint’s $70 a month unlimited data, 450 voice minute Everything Data plan, the Pixi works a out to $74.15 a month and the Pre to $76.25. Not much to choose from there in budgetary terms.

So, who wants a Pixi with Sprint? For a Pixi price? And then a not-so-Pixi-priced Sprint plan?

Hello?
