HTC On Android 2.2 Update: All Of Our 2010 Devices Will Get It
In your excitement over Android 2.2 “FroYo” launching, there is one solid doubt left: when will you be able to use the goshdarn thing? So that’s when AndroidCentral pinned HTC for comment on that, and here’s what they got:
“…if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can’t be more specific yet.“
This meaning that 2010 devices like the Droid Incredible, EVO 4G, HTC Desire, HTC Legend and myTouch Slide should all get the update, in Q2 of this year, since HTC per usual, must update the Sense UI, bit by bit, piece by piece, eternity after eternity. On the other hand Nexus One owners will probably get the update first, since they are stock Android, hardcore Google Phone users.

This translates to “blah, blah, blah” in LaptopMemo land. Here’s the Motorola Devour, getting its first over-the-air update which will automatically update all of your Google apps for Android 1.6, and brings some bug fixes, along with minor email tweaks and speed improvements. No Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR to be found here, friends. The update will roll out in the coming days to all users. Move along, or maybe you could
One thing that is a wonderful addition to Android devices is the ability to make something impossible, possible. For example, you might be stuck with Android 2.0.1 on your Droid while reading this, but it doesn’t mean you have to have Android 2.0.1 running on your Droid while waiting for the OTA to spread across the country. Due to some nice work by the all-too-cheerful Greg Kumparak, over at MobileCrunch, this happy-go-lucky gadget blogger will show you how to update your Droid without any hacking, or modding. Just pure Android 2.1 with multitouch. Hit up the source link, dudes.
