As much as this is off the tip of the hat, so to speak, this might just be the real deal here folks. A recent leak is that the HTC Desire, the Sense UI counterpart of the Nexus One, is making its way to T-Mobile instead of AT&T, or in extraordinary cases, both. A ninja that seems pretty accurate says that after speaking to three T-Mobile retail store managers one of the employees responded:

“My manager said that [he/she] trained on a phone but was sworn to secrecy. It’s probably the Desire…[he/she] said it was awesome and it was Android.”

The second manager responded that the handset he/she was training with was not the CLIQ XT, but was “all touchscreen” and “large”. Pretty much fits the bill of the Desire right? Of course, this is just a margarita drizzled with salt, so don’t come banging on our door if it’s not real; we’re posting this because we love you guys.

HTC HD2 leaks out into T-Mobile USA jungle

By Stefan Etienne Filed under: HTC, Handsets, Leaks, T-Mobile   at: 9:30 am Leave a Comment »

The HTC HD2 was taking its red carpet debut last night. Despite the doomed fate of Windows Mobile 6.5, the Sense UI looks magnificent on the gigantic 4.3-inch WVGA display, complimented by the Blockbuster movie app which allow users to download movies straight to their phone. And of course there’s the almost possible update to Windows Phone 7 series that the HD2 could make, but that’s not looking good right now. There isn’t a confirmed and official release date, somewhere around March 24th for $199 on contract/$449 off contract seems very realistic. One more shot after the break with the HD2 in T-Mobile branding; a series of shots are at the source link.

Look! Windows Mobile and the HTC HD2 on T-Mobile! Okay, you know that already, but would you really want to buy an awesome phone, but with a doomed operating system? Just asking. According to TmoNews the HTC HD2 will be priced at $199 on a 2-year contract or $449 without a contract. The $199 pricing for the HD2 will probably require you to get a shiny new data plan. Otherwise, the Nokia Nuron is $69.99 after rebate, and $179.99 without a commitment. And lastly the Motorola CLIQ XT, arguably the most questionable of all of Motorola’s handsets (in my opinion because of its looks), will retail for $129 with a 2-year contract and $329 contract free on T-Mobile. So what do you think? Will any of you jump in for say, the CLIQ XT or the HD2?

Oh look! It’s everybody’s least favorite Android phone, the CLIQ XT/Quench! No offense Moto, but it’s not like the DEVOUR, or the BACKFLIP, or the DROID, or the — you get the idea. As you can see it’s ready in its full T-Mobile branding, so check out the source link for more pics of this, ahem — smartphone.

If you haven’t noticed there’s a new OTA update for your Motorla CLIQ, you might want to hold off downloading it, because users are having headaches with the new 1.3.18 update right now. Terrifying known issues include not being able to log into MOTOBLUR, SMS-related lagging and crashing, sucky Bluetooth connectivity, dimming screens, virtual keypad bugs, and the date and time set to 7PM, 31 December 1969. T-Mobile and Motorola haven’t sent out an official statement as of yet, but here’s what an official T-Mobile Community mod had to say:

“Hi Everybody!

Thanks everyone for informing us on what the latest Motorola Cliq OTA update has brought to light. We want to let everyone know that we have been reading your comments, and we hear you. We have forwarded your concerns to the appropriate people and are working hard on them.

As of now, we advise you not to Master Reset your phone if your OTA update did not download or if you are experiencing issues at this time.

Thank you for using the T-Mobile forums and we will keep you updated as we gather more information.”

We’d also agree for you not to Master Reset your CLIQ, and if you do, well, maybe things will only get worse. Now hopefully that new webOS update with Flash today won’t cause any wonky stuff like this.

If eight Android phones are not enough for Motorola’s execs, then maybe 11 are good enough? Three unknown devices passed through the FCC last week with FCC IDs IHDP56KZ1 and IHDP56KZ2. The KZ1 model comes with quad band GSM and 3G support for T-Mobile, along with Bluetooth 2.1. The second model, the KZ2, comes with quad band GSM and 3G support for AT&T. Both phones include 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1, and seem to be the same smartphone, likely running Android, but on different networks. As for the third, it support  CDMA EVDO and Bluetooth via IHDT56LC1, with the model number WX404. Otherwise there’s not much to go by, and these 3 handsets are probably a few of 20 that Motorola plans to release this year, if you remember (or more precisely, if you read LaptopMemo). Either way, here are the FCC IDs, which a couple of have been pulled down, unusually enough. Now onto more searching….

FCC IHDP56KZ1

FCC IHDP56KZ2

FCC IHDT56LC1

[Thanks! Benjamin]

Of the two Project Pink phones that were humorously leaked in December, the Pure and Turtle, a turtle-shaped phone with a round keyboard and shell seems to be the first handset seen and approved by the FCC. Since it is a Microsoft/Danger-designed phone and the speculated replacement for the Sidekick, then you would think it would be produced by Sharp, which is the current manufacturer of the aging Sidekick. In a search of the FCC’s Authorized Equipment database, Sharp is revealed to have been authorized for a CDMA-based handset, which an FCC label matches the renderings leaked last year. With all of these details uncovered, and info from large media like WSJ and CNET, you can be sure that these “teen smartphones” will be used soon enough.

While the authenticity of the above shot is not confirmed, we can say that the above slide truly is a work of art. According to the PPCGeeks forum, the HTC HD2 should arrive at T-Mobile on March 10th, with the CLIQ XT (aka the ugly Zeppelin) coming in on March 24th. If this proves to be correct, T-Mobile will have a stronger arsenal, and if Windows Mobile 7 is debuted at MWC this month, and is included in the HD2, the whole gadget world will go round in circles.

So long Blackberry Curve 8900! It was nice knowing that you existed. I’m sure a lot of people liked you. But now it’s time for you to leave. And good riddance, we need more new smartphones! So enjoy your retirement home 8900, and don’t even bother coming out of it again. Now where’s that cousin of yours, the Tour2?
