In what deserves a tip of the hat to the late genius Steve Jobs, a posthumous Trustees Award has been awarded to the former CEO and co-founder of Apple for ”outstanding contributions to the industry in a non-performing capacity,” which is especially evident with his work on iTunes and the iPod. Steve Jobs, 1955-2011
by Stefan Etienne on 06. Oct, 2011 9:47AM in Apple, Breaking

He is one of the most successful and innovative men the world has even seen and will know. You can find dozen’s of posts all around the Internet praising him or questioning him and his products, but my favorite one is written by this guy. Goodbye Steve Jobs, we’ll all miss you.
Steve Jobs Resigns As Apple’s CEO Effective Immediately, Replaced By Tim Cook
by Stefan Etienne on 24. Aug, 2011 7:13PM in Apple, Breaking
It is the end of an era. One of the world’s most iconic CEOs is now the new Chairman of the Board, and will be replaced by Tim Cook (who will become CEO of Apple). While it was always discussed, the line of succesion for Apple’s CEO position was never really a sure thing. But as of today, we will all have to look at what to Tim Cook is doing as CEO — not Steve Jobs. You had a great run, Jobs.
Here is the former Apple CEO’s letter to all employees and newswires as of this evening, and a press release is seen after the break.
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve

Apple Confirms iCloud, iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion, And Steve Jobs At The Grand WWDC 2011
by Stefan Etienne on 31. May, 2011 9:46AM in Apple, Breaking, Mac OS X, Mobile

It’s going to be crazy and amazing. In a short press release, seen below, Apple confirmed iCloud as their “upcoming cloud services offering”. Also mentioned is iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion, the latter being the only software that has been demoed to the press and played with by developers. Also is the appearance of Steve Jobs, perhaps meaning that his health is in a better state. Who can’t wait for the World Wide Developers Conference 2011? This guy. And I’ll be covering everything that comes out of there on the morning of Monday, June 6th. Should be interesting.

President Obama Talked Jobs With Steve, Zuckerberg, And Schmidt
by Stefan Etienne on 17. Feb, 2011 10:25PM in Did You Know?, News

While the Internet was speculating about the subject of a meeting in Northern California between Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Google CEO (for now) Eric Schmidt, Reuters just picked up what the meeting as specifically about, mostly that the meeting, “was part of Obama’s push for technological innovation to help boost the economy and reduce unemployment.”
Other major technology figures that attened were Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Cisco CEO John Chambers, Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz, Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, Genentech Chairman Art Levinson, Stanford University President John Hennessy, and former state controller and venture capitalist Steve Westly.Via: Reuters, TNW
Quit Talking About Steve Jobs’ Health, We’re Only Making The Situation Worse
by Stefan Etienne on 20. Jan, 2011 11:56AM in Apple, Editorials

Recently, Apple’s brain/mastermind/CEO left on medical leave. That means he’s sick, or something of that sort. That doesn’t mean those of us in the industry can spark rumors, much to the delight of our editor’s and spikes in our pageviews, or maybe just to leak out promises, which because of such actions, are broken. Some are genuinely worried, others are shocked, and some try to claim they know what’s wrong with him, while others just don’t give an iCrap about it. Point is, Steve Jobs is on medical leave, and there are no supporting facts to know why he is. Just give it a rest people, because sooner or later, we’ll all know.
That is all I have to say on the matter.
Steve Jobs Vs. Student: This Gets Ugly, Real Fast
by Stefan Etienne on 18. Sep, 2010 11:08AM in Apple
Believe me or not, but Steve Jobs is at it again with those email exchanges. Apple has previously denounced any involvement by Steve Jobs speaking to people via email, but hey, some guys who are masters at reading the locations of where emails are sent say this is the real deal. Anyways, on with the story:
Long Island University senior Chelsea Kate Isaacs emailed Jobs on Thursday complaining that Apple’s PR department wasn’t replying to any of her e-mails while she was on deadline (tell me about it, I feel her pain):
“Mr. Jobs, I humbly ask why Apple is so wonderfully attentive to the needs of students, whether it be with the latest, greatest invention or the company’s helpful customer service line, and yet, ironically, the Media Relations Department fails to answer any of my questions which are, as I have repeatedly told them, essential to my academic performance.”
She needed this info as she was composing a paper about using the iPad in academic settings. But Jobs had other ideas:
“Our goals do not include helping you get a good grade. Sorry”
After a bit more jabbing and back and forth, Steve Jobs became tired of this email shootout, and presented his “iDon’tCare” message:
Please leave us alone.
What’d you expect? He his a ninja after all.
On a side note, this entire situation is extremely funny, because if you cover tech (like I do, duh), then you’d know that you’ll be long gone before you get a response from Apple’s PR department. Ah, good times.

White iPhone 4 delayed, AGAIN. Till Later This Year.
by Stefan Etienne on 23. Jul, 2010 12:04PM in Apple, AT&T, Breaking, Lame, Mobile
The white iPhone 4 is delayed again “till later this year”, as according to the short statement made by Apple below. I can only think of how Steve Jobs and co. are thinking of this. And of course the craziness of the situation as well, along with the almost confirmed fact that the white iPhone 4 requires more unicorn dust to be manufactured.
“Statement by Apple on White iPhone 4
White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”
