Adobe Flash 10.1 will surprise Android in June

With all of the Apple vs. Adobe insanity it’s time to look at what Apple would probably hate most about Adobe: bringing Flash to Android. And today Flash-based CTO Kevin Lynch said in a post, “We look forward to delivering Flash Player 10.1 for Android smartphones as a public preview at Google I/O in May, and then a general release in June.” Ta-da! It’s going to be quite a show, and with all of the Android 2.2 Flash included-by-default stuff blurted out by Andy Rubin, there probably will be some extra Froyo surprises included in the new OS as well.

Skyfire 2.0 fires away on Android, brings tons of goodies

The day has finally come for Skyfire 2.0 to launch on Android phones running 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, or 2.1 firmwares (multitouch only works in 2.0+ handsets). First off, remember when you couldn’t play Flash video? Yeah right! Huzzah, with the new “SkyBar” that sits on the bottom of the screen, you’ll get to view Flash video converted into easy-to-digest formats like HTML5. Since all of this is done in the cloud, your battery won’t fizz out and your data connection won’t cry for help either. Other new features include “Explore” which lets you find more content on what you’re viewing, and a sharing feature for social networks. So in the meantime, check out the Skyfire action vid after the cut, and download it for free on the Android Market.

Droid Really Does: Android Market Hits 50,000 Apps

Whoaaaaaa.

Man, does Android move fast! Google has released more versions flavors of Android than anyone can remember (1.6, 2.0, and 2.1) and now while they’re cleaning things up to make sure all Androids have version 2.1, Android 2.2 “Froyo” starts to make the rounds. And in the meantime, the Android Market has approached the 50,000 app mark. Keep in minds fellas that this doesn’t mean if I jump in the Market now I’ll find 50,000 apps I can download from the U.S; what it really means is that all Markets total bring up 50,000 apps. Kudos to AndroidLib, once again, for keeping this LaptopMemo evening exciting (and keeping tabs on the Android Market).

How Will The HP Slate Wage War Against The iPad? I Think I Know How

It’s been a feature for months now. The HP Slate; a tablet (ahem, slate) with the brains of a conventional laptop, but the qualities of a true “iPad-killer” (or so it seems). Rumored for a launch early this summer, there’s a major question raised on how the HP Slate could redefine that “gap” between your laptop and smartphone. And here’s how.

The HP Slate will come in two configurations, that is in 32GB and 64GB versions, priced at $549 and $599 respectively (according to the numerous leaks). But space isn’t what’s important. In fact on any of the coming slates, whether it be the ExoPC, HP Slate, Notion Ink Adam, or even the Google Tablet. What will turn the consumer industry inside-out is software and simple but capable, good looking hardware. Take this short (or long if you understand it) example into perspective:

It’s official: iPad gets jailbroken thanks to Geohot and Comex

Recently in a George Hotz (geohot) blog post, a picture of an iPad was posted without any words accompanying it. Can you tell why? Well, look closely, because something is very peculiar on this iPad, sir. See, Geohot (and @Comex) have officially jailbroken it. It has not been officially released as of yet, but a release should be approaching soon. Anyone out there now more excited than ever for their iPad to get jailbroken?

iPhone OS 4.0: The Details You’re Itching To Know About

iPhone OS 4.0 has made its debut today with Steve Jobs as your presenter at the Apple Headquarters. Main new features of the new OS are — wait for it — multitasking, global Mail inbox, iAd, Enterprise features, and the GameCenter, all coming to iPhone owners this summer (more on that after the jump), while iPad owners should expect it this fall. Let’s go over what was announced in a pretty well-ordered list:
