Leaked HTC Sense 4.0 Previewed: New UI, New Features, And More

Tech site PocketNow claims that they have had hands-with a near-final leaked build of HTC Sense 4.0. This new version of Sense will contain a new UI, new features, no on-screen buttons for Ice Cream Sandwich, meaning that the hardware will still carry four distinct capacitive buttons: home, menu, search, and back. Sense 4.0 will also feature a full landscape mode, a completely reworked mail app, tight Dropbox integration with 50GB of free storage, a Safari Reader-style function for the browser (that would be awesome, HTC), and universal Beats audio for supported phones. That’s quite a long set of achievements for Sense UI that hasn’t been observed for quite a while now.

There’s even talk of a 3D task switcher. However, since there are no photos of it in action, we’d have to label this with a grain of salt before anything stated by PocketNow can be taken into serious consideration. Via: PocketNow

HTC Amaze 4G Review

First the sensation, then came amazement. It is a pretty awful pun on the Sensation 4G being the former to the Amaze 4G, but it stands perfectly on its own. What the Amaze 4G has done is simply raise its HSPA+ data speeds to 42MBps, a faster 1.5GHz dual-core processor, new styling, and a better sensor in the 8 megapixel camera, capable of 1080p HD video recording (same specs for the camera, just better quality on the Amaze). To top all of that off, the Amaze 4G has a fantastic design reminiscent of the Sensation 4G (obviously), but alos the HTC Legend, an Android handset so old (by Android’s standards) that it is only a legend by now. Sorry, HTC just makes it easy to make puns out of the names of their products.

Full review after the break. And it’s the last LM review for 2011.

HTC Sensation XE Unveiled: A 1.5GHz Dual-Core Beats Audio Smartphone

This would be wrong. Scratch that — a crime, if the Sensation XE didn’t make its way to Verizon Wireless here in the States. It’s a red smartphone, with Beats Audio to back it up.  Oh, and as for what really is backing it up: a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the latest version of Sense UI, a 4.3-inch qHD display, a larger 1,730mAh battery to compensate for the overclocked processor and Beats Audio, and also ships with a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones that include controls and a mic, all in one juicy red package. It makes the original Sensation 4G look like a clown (ironically, as one just arrived in the mail). HTC’s press release is seen after the break.

T-Mobile’s HTC Amaze/HTC Ruby Is Quite A Show-Stopper In Leaked Pics

So what do we have here today? The HTC Amaze 4G/HTC Ruby, duh. What may be T-Mobile’s next flagship smartphone (which would be strange, considering how awesomesauce the Galaxy S II is) will contain a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 4.3″ qHD display (960×540), 16GB of storage, an 8MP camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. With specs like those, anyone could drop the Galaxy S II in a heartbeat, which is also probably why it isn’t released yet (the other answer being it is not ready for production). Furthermore, we may have a new version of Sense UI on the Amaze 4G — Android 2.3 with Sense 3.5. You can find more leaked pics at the source links.

HTC Status Review: It’s The Facebook Phone You May Want

At first, it was called the HTC Cha Cha in Europe. Now when brought to the United States’ shores on AT&T’s 3G network, the Cha Cha is called the HTC Status. It will retail for a mere $50 on a 2-year contract, and brings along Android 2.3.3 with Sense UI, a 5 megapixel camera, front-facing camera, 800MHz processor, and a full QWERTY keyboard. Moreover, it has a 2.6-inch LCD touchscreen, something that I’ll talk about later in the review, which obviously is after the break.

A Quick Hands-On With The HTC Status

At AT&T’s Unwrapped mobile holiday preview event in New York City, I had the time to take a look at a ton of upcoming and just-released devices, including the gift given out to all press attendees: an HTC Status. Every HTC Status has Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, a version of the Sense UI seen on their better dual-core devices, a 2.6-inch LCD screen, 5 megapixel back facing camera with a front-facing camera, 800MHz processor and a full QWERTY layout with a dedicated Facebook key.

First of all, it uses AT&T 3G, and is rather fun to use. Think of it as a BlackBerry with Android on it. The superior build quality for a $50 phone on contract is pretty nice, and considering it’s running Gingerbread with Sense UI on an 800Mhz processor, there is no noticeable lag that I’ve come across within the last 24 hours of owning it. Seems like AT&T and HTC have a winner here. The full review should be coming in the next few weeks.

HTC EVO 3D And EVO View 4G Now Available On Sprint

Both use WiMAX “4G”, Android 2.3 (the View 4G should get Honeycomb sooner or later), use the latest version of the Sense UI 3.0, and both pack dual-core processors (the EVO 3D at 1.2GHz dual core and the View 4G at 1.5 GHz dual-core). Now onto their differences: the EVO 3D has a 4.3-inch qHD 3D display which requires no glasses to see the 3D image, has dual 5-megapixel cameras that can capture 3D images and videos, and costs $199.99 on a 2-year contract with Sprint with the extra $10 monthly premium associated with 4G smartphones on Sprint.

The EVO View 4G also uses WiMAX “4G” and launches without any 3D screen, but costs $399.99 on a 2-year agreement (For a tablet, I know. Lame.). PR after the cut.
