Since the PlayBook didn’t launch with much fanfare among the gadget reviewer community, sales are expected to be lower than previously estimated by RIM, right? Well, according to Peter Misek of Jeffries & Co., RIM sold an estimated 25,000 units in pre-orders and another 20,000 in retail stores. Keep in mind the iPad 2 sold 300,000 units in its first weekend and all the other Android tablets probably less than 45,000 (but that’s just an estimate, right?).

A day after Steve Jobs leaves Apple on medical leave for conditions unknown, Apple releases record Q1 profits and sales. $6 billion in profits was made from $26.7 billion in revenue, 16.2 million iPhone 4s were sold (86% up in sales), 7.33 million iPads, 4.31 million Macs (up 23%), and $19.45 million iPods (a 7% decline). Needless to say, these amazing numbers further cements Apple as one of the best producers of the gadgets you know and love. Well done, Steve & Cupertino. Via: 

This is a major increase in sales/activations, but the simple one-liner from Andy Rubin on Twitter leaves much more info to be desired. Nevertheless, Andy Rubin has stated that there are 300,000 Android phones being activated each and everyday, which is much different than shipping phones, in which case they aren’t activated for consumer use. It’s a great fact for Android as a whole, however. Via:
