Motorola Calgary/Droid Devour spotted in the wild

The Motorola “Calgary” otherwise known as the Droid Devour (pretty catchy, huh?) has now been seen sporting a silver paint job (instead of black), and Boy Genius claims that according to the source, the Calgary has GPS, Wi-Fi, a 3 megapixel camera, no SIM card slot, Android with MOTOBLUR, 1420mAh battery, and is very obviously headed to Verizon (see that badge?). The source also said it was “easier to use” and the keyboard was “nice”. Also they mentioned that the above handset is not the final-production model, so let’s wait and see what Motorola is up to?

New Motorola “Shadow” to be released with Android?

While today is New Year’s Eve, Motorola is already planning for the year ahead. Straight out of a Taiwanese forum, the above pic with the green checkmark is supposed to be the Motorola “Shadow”  and not the “Mirage” as Google translates it. Rumored specs include a 4.3-inch 850x484 screen, HDMI port, and 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video recording. The reason why you see 2 images above BTW, is because the tipster inverted the colors of the handset, and the geeks dudes at Engadget only were able to mildly corrected it. So, does anybody want to give us a blurry spy pic, at least?

Microsoft hiring Xbox LIVE manager for Windows Mobile

Bringing Xbox LIVE to Windows Mobile handsets has always been a dream of well — Windows Mobile users. And a recent available job position at Microsoft might be all the confirmation we might need. Microsoft is currently looking for a Principle Program Manager to “bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile” and is someone who “will focus specifically on what makes gaming experiences “LIVE Enabled” through aspects such as avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences”. This obviously means that Xbox LIVE is headed to Windows Mobile, and this might even be Microsoft’s savior for Windows Mobile.

T-Mobile basically confirms the Google Phone (Nexus One) for a January launch

Leaked photos, documents, employees spilling out info that they shouldn’t and rumors are almost nothing compared to the internal memo below from T-Mobile on 12/29.

Google, with support from T-Mobile, is scheduled to launch a new Android device in early January. The Google Android phone will be sold solely by Google via the Web.

All we need to know now is the price. $199 USD perhaps?

Google’s Chrome OS netbook specs appear

If this is how Chrome OS netbooks will be, they’ll be very, very successful.  The specs for Google’s very own netbook are very impressive for its category (remember: netbooks). If the IBTimes is right, then the specs of the Google netbook are: an ARM chip as the processor, 10.1″ multi-touch screen with HD, and the Nvidia Tegra doing graphics work, 64GB SSD, 2GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, webcam, and the other little things that count. Also according to the rumor, Google will probably get a wireless carrier to sell it on Google’s own site, for a subsidized price of under $300, by Holiday Season 2010.

Android 2.0+ coming to the T-Mobile G1?

Another rumor, so get you pepper shakers ready. Acc0rding  to AndroidSPIN, version 2.0 of Android (or 2.1) is headed to the G1, which is the very first Android phone that was created. This would be exciting, and interesting, but wouldn’t mean I’d have to re-work the G1 Review that’s supposed to be on the site, in like, less than 12 hours? Stay Tuned.

Apple owns mysterious iSlate.com domain, is it for a tablet?

Going back into Apple Tablet rumors (and full news coverage at LaptopMemo), we’ve learned that the mysterious, strange, and secret Apple tablet has the possible name of iSlate. Why? Well, back in 2007, Apple registered the iSlate domain under an intermediary (so they’re not found out to be the actual owners). Even though this is a double rumor, there are some decent explanations that could explain why Apple owns this domain. first for example, it could just be to protect the “i” that Apple is famous for, or it could be that’s it’s for the tablet, and it could even be for a future project Apple has in mind. And don’t forget that the New York Times’ Executive Editor Bill Keller who said the words “Apple Slate” in a speech.Whatever it’s for, it’s intriguing, no? BTW, Happy Holidays!

From Russia: Motorola Sholes Tablet XT701 shots appear

image

Above is a rendering of the Motorola Sholes Tablet XT701, which reportedly runs Android 2.1, has a 8 MP camera with flash, with other conflicting reports saying that it’s a 5 MP camera. FM radio, an HDMI port, 720p video recording/playback, and that strange lump are other features included in the package. This picture (and the other one after the cut) are from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC, China’s version of our FCC. What needs to be figured out now is where (and when) it’s coming out. I’ll have this covered as more info comes to light (and I’ll try to press one of my connects as well). [Via BGR]
