Android Market Features Seen In Froyo Moving Over To Eclair Devices, Silently?

A few user reports at always Android-focused blog Android Central has uncovered a new version of the Android Market that is silently updating itself on Android 2.1 phones, mainly the Milestones, Vibrant and Fascinate, but even reports for the Android 1.6-wielding XPERIA X10 and Android 2.1 myTouch 3G Slide surface, mentioning that native Android 2.2 “Froyo” features like automatic updating, update all, and the Market widget have appeared on their devices.

While I do have a Android 2.1 update1 Samsung Fascinate unit with me now, I have yet to receive the stealth update. In the meantime, I’ll report back with any findings.

DROID X Android 2.2 Froyo OTA Finally Sees The Light Of Day Tomorrow? (Update: confirmed)

I’ve had my own personal Verizon ninja telling me the Droid X Froyo update was due to come late last month and the middle of this one, perhaps Mr. Ninja may be right? Kellex at DROID-Life has the scoop on the Droid X update, bringing all native Android 2.2 feautres via an -over-the-air (OTA) update, possibly this Wednesday the 22nd —  which is tomorrow.

Fingers crossed?

Updated: Verizon has confirmed this via their Twitter account.

HTC DROID Incredible getting FroYo ‘at the end of the month’, says my sources

While a lot of you may have heard of Mashable’s story regarding Android 2.2 frozen yogurt coming to the Droid Incredible on August 18th, I’ve recently spoken to a very experienced Verizon ninja who has yet to fail me, and says the it will begin rolling out “at the end of “the month. It will bring Flash 10.1 ,720p HD video recording, a boatload of other improvments, and of course, the gloating aspect where you can say “My Droid has Froyo! on it”.

[Thanks, Joe!]

Motorola DROID doesn’t have the hardware for Froyo’s mobile hotspot, eh?

According to Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney (a friendly agent of mine), while speaking to Engadget, the original Motorola DROID “doesn’t have [the] hardware to support the mobile hotspot.” Now let’s rewind:

All Droid owners starting this week (even right now), will be getting the OTA for Android 2.2, and while one of the core features is in fact, mobile hotspot, the Droid won’t support it. Or in Verizon’s eyes, can’t.

Oh well. Now, if you’ll excuse us, please drop us a tip on our tips line if you have the update.zip file that can bring FroYo to the Droid masses (that also means us).

Verizon Releases Details On Motorola Droid Android 2.2 Update

Verizon and Motorola, keen on bringing Android 2.2 to the original Droid, has already posted instructions for the update on Verizon’s website. On the flipside, I’ve gotten a hold of these documents from a great ninja, above being the first page. Some users will receive the update tonight, and then it will officially roll-out in the following days.

Android 2.2 Motorola Droid OTA coming up next week

The more Froyo, the merrier, right? Whilst Sprint will be the first carrier to offer Android 2.2 on a handset this summer, it looks like “official word” (though not seen) sent to the old guys at Engadget claims the Verizon will begin pushing out Froyo next week, to the first Droid. Other Droid variants weren’t spoken of, but probably that’ll come up later.

Droid Incredible update will come blazing with FroYo, end of July/early August

According to the always-interesting and always yelling Andrew Munchbach (ask his Twitter pic), a perfectly-placed ninja, sent the following details, at the right moment, on time, so that the marvelous Internets may share the glory with you.

Ahem:

The Ninja: I wanted to pass along that the upcoming Incredible MR will also include Froyo (originally it was going to be two separate MRs).

We are targeting the end of the month/first part of August. As a reminder, below are the highlights:

  • Froyo
  • 802.11 n
  • 3G Mobile Hot Spot
  • HTC Widget: Email
  • HTC Widget: News
  • EAS Updates
  • 720p Video Recording
  • Amazon MP3
  • Skype
  • My Verizon

If this proves to be legit, it’ll be one of the darn best OTA updates in history, besides the iOS 4 update. Who am I kidding? It’s better.
