iPhone OS 4.0 has made its debut today with Steve Jobs as your presenter at the Apple Headquarters. Main new features of the new OS are — wait for it — multitasking, global Mail inbox, iAd, Enterprise features, and the GameCenter, all coming to iPhone owners this summer (more on that after the jump), while iPad owners should expect it this fall. Let’s go over what was announced in a pretty well-ordered list:

New Samsung Bada OS screenshots leaked
by Stefan Etienne on 17. Dec, 2009 in Leaks

Yet another operating system in development, Samsung Bada has gotten its first screenshots, of which display a dialer, Twitter app, music player, and a homescreen, which bears resemblance to Google’s Android, as well as a couple of other stuff. Besides that, it looks pretty neat so far, and the details are tiny, so you should expect more info soon. BTW, is it just me, or does Bada look like a fusion of different operating systems like Symbian and Android?

Nokia shows off new and improved Symbian 2010 OS
by Stefan Etienne on 03. Dec, 2009 in Breaking, Hardware, Nokia

As you may have heard, Nokia is going to release a new Symbian UI in 2010. But no, somehow they couldn’t wait to show off the screens, which is fine with me, and is why the concept shots are showing up here.
Nokia’s head in devices, Kai Öistämö, says that they plan to see Symbian OS as an interface, and not the problem. And they say they will:
“Use a new optimized graphic architecture with a focus on graphics and responsiveness, showcased beautifully on a large capacitive screen. Later in the year, a completely new visual architecture re-working of the UI will drastically reduce the complexity throughout and bring fresh appeal. We will execute here.”
Not a bad gameplan at all Mister Kai. Also, everything in Symbian 2010 is easier to use and do. Creating an email account takes 2 steps, not four, and it takes 2 taps to get your video and music, not 8. The web browser will also be more efficient.

Chrome OS unveiling coming in 2 days?
by Stefan Etienne on 17. Nov, 2009 in Google, Rumors

Yes, that’s what we should be expecting. What actually is going is happen is an overview of the Chrome OS. What does that mean? Well, it means this, I guess:
The plan is to give some technical background information as well as show off some demos, we’re told. More notably, they will be giving a “complete overview” of the new OS, which they say will launch next year.
Essentially, they’re going to tell us what the heck Chrome OS is, and then we’ll get a release date probably on the same day.[TechCrunch]
Latest Snow Leopard Build dosen’t work on Hackintoshes
by Stefan Etienne on 07. Nov, 2009 in Apple
The latest developer build for Snow Leopard – 10.6.2, once again kills the Atom support for netbooks, so that means if you’re running a Hackintosh, do not update. If you really want to see what happens when you get the latest build – well, the above vid is just for that.

Google OS Chrome Is Now Official, Watch out Windows!
by Stefan Etienne on 08. Jul, 2009 in Google, News
UPDATE: This picture shows all of the new sponsors of Google Chrome OS.
The new Google OS, called “Chrome” is now officially going to be released sometime in mid 2010. According to Ars Technica, it will be called “Google Chrome OS” and it will targeted at netbooks, the current new type of “mini computer” that mainly only have Windows XP and simple Intel Atom processors to perform simple tasks like checking email. According to different sources, it might have some compatibilities with Andriod, the new smartphone OS.
But you can be sure if “Chrome OS” were to be released and “virus free”, since Google claims it has a new security platform, it could be a great choice for netbooks.
Microsoft does it again: Windows XP till 2011
by Stefan Etienne on 19. Jun, 2009 in Laptops, Windows
Put your Windows XP caps on, Windows XP isn’t dying until 2011. It was supposed to be dead on July 31st, 2009! The availability to downgrade to Windows XP for businesses goes as far as April 23rd, 2011. The reason for this delay is that this will get companies to make an easier switch to Windows 7. So what that means is that Windows XP will be available 18 months after the release of Windows 7 or the first service pack (SP1). Basically, which ever is sooner.
