B&N: Nook sold out for the holidays

Nookpanel_0

Oh this is great for Barnes & Noble, and terrible for Nook fans. The Nook is so popular (even though no one has it yet) that it’s sold out for the holidays.  To calm down the angry consumer who expected a Nook for Christmas,  B&N is offering placeholder certificates  to help with the tremendous loss. So now your Nook should start shipping on January 4th. Just. Great.

Nook: Too much Demand, shipping date pushed to December

11385Well, who didn’t think this would happen? The Nook has received so many pre-orders that they’re pushing the shipping date to the first week of December, instead of November 30th. That means that those of you who pre-ordered the Nook early will still get your unit shipped on November 30th, but that second wave of pre-orders gets delayed.

Also, if you want to play with one at your local Barnes & Noble, rumor has it that display units will show up at the end of November. So that settles that.

Barnes & Noble Nook e-reader official, costs $259

500x_bnnook

The Barnes & Noble “Nook” e-reader is officially official! Pre-orders are running now, and it costs $259, but no release date is out yet. It boasts 2 screens -- one color, and one E-Ink. Wireless is AT&T 3G with Wi-Fi, 2 GB included storage, expandable to 16GB. You also have a new cool feature, which is person-to-person e-reading.

The screen sizes are a 6-inch E-Ink display, and 3.5-inch color display, which is used for navigating the interface.  Also included is a 3.5mm headphone jack. To be precise, the actual size of the e-reader is 7.7- x 4.9- x 0.5-inches and weighs 11.2 ounces.  By the way, the battery life of this thing is about 3.5 hours using  wall outlet, and can last 10 hours, BN says, if you turn “off” the wireless feature.

No release date, but this e-reader seals the fate of the Kindle. The Kindle is dead, or will be.

Barnes & Noble “Nook” e-reader priced at $259, coming out tomorrow

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Barnes & Noble e-reader is called the “Nook”. Priced at $259, they think it will launch Tuesday. The  price is probably for the e-ink screen combined with a multitouch color screen. WSJ also claims that you will be able to lend e-books to your friends.

So what do you all think? A Nook e-reader tomorrow? Oh, and how unthoughtful the name “Nook” is? Just call it a “Book” then…
