T-Mobile Confirms myTouch 3G Will Get Android 2.2

In a recent “No Phone Gets Left Behind” sarcastic message found in a leaked T-Mobile document found at TmoNews, the message is quite clear: all myTouch 3G models (including the 3.5mm headset jack edition) on T-Mobile are getting Android 2.2 FroYo in its full brilliance, coupled with the Genius Button and Faves Gallery much like the upcoming myTouch 3G Slide. Awesome right? Until you remember that the Samsung Behold II and G1 are part of the “no phone gets left behind” thing, seen in the doc above.

Good times, T-Mobile, good times.

T-Mobile’s myTouch Slide coming in 3 different colors? Interesting…

Since the T-Mobile myTouch Slide is the successor to the G1, it means that not only there is extreme leakage on its specs and software (Android 2.1 with that leaked “Espresso” Sense UI, which is really glossy) but now, colors. When you cough up the cash to grab a myTouch Slide for an as-of-yet unknown price, you’ll have the option of Red with Black, Black, and White. Now the guys at CellPhoneSignal claim that the shot above is directly from T-Mobile’s press gallery (and we have no reason to think otherwise). So technically, that’s today’s dose of myTouch Slide news. You’re welcome.

New Rumor: All U.S. Android Phones Getting 2.1. ALL Of Them.

Huzzah! While there’s no real confirmation that your old and rusty T-Mobile G1 will make the cut to Android 2.1, there’s lots of hope it will. According to AndroidandMe, all I repeat all, US Android phones would get version 2.1. Although some of the updated phones would be much like the Droid’s upcoming update — snazzy stuff like the live wallpapers and 3D app menu won’t make the cut, but you’ll still get all the awesome widgets and baseline features of Eclair. And to cut back on install failures, one of the rumored forms of upgrading your phone would be via a PC, which would ensure a safe and complete install.

Because this would be done on such a large scale, a sacrifice must be made: some phones will require an entire wipe. All of it. Your phone would be re-born again and you’d have to teach it all of your tricks (and stuff all of your junk) back into it. You’d have the latest and greatest version of Android though. While there’s no real confirmation on this, Google has admitted that Android versions are in a thousand pieces right now. Expect the first 2 phones to get 2.1 will be the G1 (if it can handle it) and the myTouch 3G. Confirmation and the like should appear in the coming weeks.

HTC Hero look-alike being tested by FCC

1

I’m sure you jumped to conclusions already: That’s a HTC Hero! Wrong! It’s some unknown HTC Hero look-alike that’s currently being tested by the FCC. Very interesting to say the least. The specs that were salvaged from BGR make it feel very much like a Hero or myTouch 3G: quad-band GSM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, TV-Tuner, front and rear facing cameras, LED flash, 1 GB internal storage, 512 MB RAM, and 1600 mAh battery. There are 2 colors seen in the shots after the break: white and black. Of course our first assumption is that it’s a Android handset, but who knows? Click to see the shots of the mystery handset after the break. [BGR via FCC]
