Motorola CLIQ XT joins the Android March at MWC

Motorola’s eighth Android handset is called the CLIQ XT. What makes MOTOBLUR on Motorola’s phones so disappointing is they’re all running Android 1.5, and so is this. For specs you get a 3.1-inch touchscreen with a purported resolution of 480 x 320,”pinch and zoom” touch capabilities, 5 megapixel camera (with autofocus and LED flash), a navigation touchpad and dual-mic noise cancellation system. Other things in the CLIQ XT include stereo Bluetooth, AGPS, FM radio, Motoblur, and Adobe Flash Lite. Not much to see here by any chance. Expect it to come out next month on T-Mobile. It’s boring, which is why we’ll move onto something else more “interesting”. PR as usual is below.

Toshiba K01 Smartphone Debuts at MWC with Windows Mobile 6.5

To kick off today’s MWC 2010 coverage, I bring you Toshiba’s smartphone, the K01. It’s a handsome QWERTY slider with a 4.1 capacitive OLED touchscreen, Windows Mobile 6.5, a microSD slot for storage up to 32GB, and a speedy 1Ghz processor. This would be the cousin to the TG02, Toshiba’s update to the original TG01, and is a slim 12.9mm, but still the K01 is not as thin as the aforementioned handsets.  No word on price or release yet, but we’ll know soon enough. PR after the break.

Tomorrow at MWC: Samsung I8520 ‘Halo’ Android 2.1 AMOLED Phone

More Samsung news for you. You like it right? If you’re asking “where’s the Android phones?”, then here’s your treat, courtsey of a leak buried in the MWC 2010 press kit from Sammy. Tomorrow the I8520 ‘Halo’ will debut with a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, 720p video, 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, DivX/Xvid playback, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, GPS, and 16GB storage with a microSD card slot for adding more space.

It will ship Q3 to Europe and Asia with a possible US release. And from the looks of it, the Halo uses the TouchWiz 3.0 UI debuted on the Wave earlier. But with no word on an official US release, the most exciting Samsung phone of the day in fact could end up a little shady. More on this tomorrow!

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro Gets — A QWERTY Keyboard

More handsets straight out of Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress! Imagine a Sony Ericsson Vivaz, with a QWERTY keyboard. That’s a pretty short thought, but you still get the goods from the Vivaz Pro. 720p video capture, 640 x 360 wide HVGA touchscreen display, S60 5th Edition (but maybe an SE-tweaked Symbian^2 or Symbian^3 is what’s actually on here?), and a decrease from an 8.1-megapixel camera to 5.1. Otherwise, the North American and global 3G variants with quad-band EDGE will ship in the second quarter of this year, in either white or black. PR is after the cut.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini And XPERIA X10 Mini Pro Debut At MWC

What do we have here? That’s right. Mini versions of the upcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. Let’s start off with specs: a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 which will ship in both North American and global 3G variants with quad-band EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and an included 2GB microSD card. Both phones run Android 1.6 with the Racheal UX, four corner control which is simply user-made shortcuts, Sony Ericsson Timescape will take care of all your communication needs, from call history to Twitter, all on a 2.5-inch QVGA touchscreen display. The Mini Pro will get a full QWERTY keyboard, and the regular mini — won’t. An upper hand that the X10 Mini has is that it will be available in black, pearl white, lime, pink, red and silver colors, while the pro will only come in black or red. Both are expected for a launch in Q2 of this year. PR, as usual, is waiting for you below.

Samsung Wave: 3.3-inch Super AMOLED, Bada OS, 1GHz CPU, no Multitouch

Another smartphone. And Samsung’s Bada OS debut. The Samsung Wave is the first entry into the Bada OS spectrum, where Samsung plans for the Wave to be open to everyone and anyone. And of course what is a smartphone without killer specs? Sammy made sure that the Wave comes in as a tsunami, and that’s where the 1GHz CPU comes in, then a 3.3-inch “Super AMOLED” touchscreen that allows you to actually use it in sunlight, but contains no multitouch; TouchWIZ UI 3.0 is in the new and fresh Bada OS, which allows up to 10 homescreens, and SocialHub for managing all of your email and social media accounts in one window. Other specs include, a 5 megapixel camera, aGPS, accelerometer, 802.11n Wi-Fi, 2GB or 8GB of storage space, microSD expansion slot, multi-codec support for DivX, XviD, MP3 and WMV, and support for virtual 5.1 surround sound and 720p recording / decoding. Samsung Apps will be your main app store if you’re wondering, and full Flash support is also present, which will be available in over 50 countries. So far the Wave isn’t really a tsunami, but it does pack in some great features to consider. Case in point: we’re skeptical. PR after the jump. Oh, and look for it sometime in April.

Samsung’s S8500 Wave with Bada OS caught in the wild with specs

Yes, everyone. Another phone, another phone OS. Samsung’s new Bada OS is so far exclusive to the S8500 Wave, the first Bluetotth 3.0 phone. Bluetooth wasn’t exactly in the list of leaked specs, but we can at least suppose 2.0 is onboard. Specs for this newcomer are a 3.3 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, 720p video, DivX support, 2GB internal memory with microSD expansion, HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, 1 GHz processor, 3.5mm headphone jack, a sleek aluminum body, 1500 mAh battery, and the Bada OS with Touchwiz 3.0 UI. For now we’ll have to wait to get the full list of specs, availability, Bada OS performance, and price. The good news is all of that will be in the limelight next week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
