AT&T Joins the Android Race, Will Release 3 Handsets

AT&T has finally decided that Android is a great way to make more money off of you and me, so they have decided that they would relrease 3 different Android handsets this year. They are (in speculation):

  • A Motorola handset using MOTOBLUR, very possibly the Motorola Enzo/Backflip/Motus
  • The Dell Mini 3i, which was confirmed by Dell today at CES
  • An unknown HTC smartphone, exclusively for AT&T

Besides those three, there are phones like the Nexus One or Motorola Calgary, which is another strong contender.

Motorola Backflip/Enzo coming to AT&T, brings Android

You might not believe it but, that up there is the Motorola Backflip/Enzo/Motus, which is coming to AT&T. The keyboard is what probably gets it the “Backflip” name. It folds behind the screen when not in use, then flips out when you’re using it. And did I mention there’s a touchpad behind the keyboard? Yes, that is weird. It will not have Gmail, but will have a couple of AT&T apps and Yahoo! Search, with Moto BLUR frosting running on Android 1.5, and the same 528Mhz processor as the Moto CLIQ. Motorola Motus: Full specs are out; AT&T 3G also

Over at BGR another one of their “connects” got them the full specs of the Motorola Motus. So here they are. Contrary from the look of the phone in that blurry shot, the Motus is not a slider, but a flip phone. It also has AT&T 3G support. Interesting.

Spy shot of Motorola Motus is beyond blurry

There are blurry spy shot photos, and then there is this one. There are photos taken in bad light settings, but then there’s this one. And only this one is believed to be a shot  of the CLIQ-look alike Motorola Motus. Rumors say it houses a 5 megapixel camera and Android 1.6. What;s interesting is that the keyboard is huge, but it seems like there isn’t any d-pad for navigation. As for the bright yellow spot, we have no idea what that is. We’ll know  eventually.
