This translates to “blah, blah, blah” in LaptopMemo land. Here’s the Motorola Devour, getting its first over-the-air update which will automatically update all of your Google apps for Android 1.6, and brings some bug fixes, along with minor email tweaks and speed improvements. No Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR to be found here, friends. The update will roll out in the coming days to all users. Move along, or maybe you could subscribe to our RSS feed?

Motorola Devour now available from Verizon for $149.99 on contract
by Stefan Etienne on 25. Mar, 2010 10:13AM in Android, Mobile, Motorola, Verizon

Another Android phone for Verizon, this time the Motorola Devour. Think of it as a Droid stripped of its immense powers and given a unibody-like casing, Motorola’s social UI, MOTOBLUR, a cheaper price tag, and better keyboard. It’s officially $149.99 on a two-year agreement with Big Red.
It also contains a 3.1-inch capacitive screen, 8GB microSD card, 3 MP camera, 802.11 b/g WiFi, GPS, and a 3.5mm headset jack.
Anyone looking forward to taking the plunge?

New Rumor: All U.S. Android Phones Getting 2.1. ALL Of Them.
by Stefan Etienne on 27. Feb, 2010 4:12PM in Android, Mobile, Rumors
Huzzah! While there’s no real confirmation that your old and rusty T-Mobile G1 will make the cut to Android 2.1, there’s lots of hope it will. According to AndroidandMe, all I repeat all, US Android phones would get version 2.1. Although some of the updated phones would be much like the Droid’s upcoming update — snazzy stuff like the live wallpapers and 3D app menu won’t make the cut, but you’ll still get all the awesome widgets and baseline features of Eclair. And to cut back on install failures, one of the rumored forms of upgrading your phone would be via a PC, which would ensure a safe and complete install.
Because this would be done on such a large scale, a sacrifice must be made: some phones will require an entire wipe. All of it. Your phone would be re-born again and you’d have to teach it all of your tricks (and stuff all of your junk) back into it. You’d have the latest and greatest version of Android though. While there’s no real confirmation on this, Google has admitted that Android versions are in a thousand pieces right now. Expect the first 2 phones to get 2.1 will be the G1 (if it can handle it) and the myTouch 3G. Confirmation and the like should appear in the coming weeks.

7 Minutes Worth Video of Motorola Devour? Yes, Please.
by Stefan Etienne on 20. Feb, 2010 8:39PM in Mobile, Motorola, News

While we’re waiting for the Motorola Devour to hit some retail channels in a couple of days, and nationwide in March, we just had to have some actual working video of it first, right? Motorola’s Rick Osterloh will be your tourguide in a seven minute hands-on with the Motorola Devour. The demonstration goes over all of the Devour main attractions: Google Maps Navigation, MOTOBLUR, Moto Phone Portal, and the built-in Qualcomm CPU, which does provide some lag, but as the same time makes the Devour look like a speedy little smartphone The video you know you want to watch is after the break.

Motorola Devour to go for $150 at BestBuy
by Stefan Etienne on 19. Feb, 2010 10:56AM in Motorola, Verizon

Remember when Megan Fox used the Devour? Well, afterwards you can be sure many yearned to know how much the Devour will take away from their leaping wallets. If the grainy picture up there is correct, you should be spending $150 on your Devour, which is $50 less than the Droid, which of course has much more bells and whistles. A two-year contract with Verizon and a data plan that is at least $29.99 per month is what else you should expect. One thing that’s awesome about BestBuy is that the rebates are in-store, so you won’t have to wait for the mailman. Finally, no mail-in rebates. [Via Engadget]
Motorola Devour to Launch on Indirect Channels February 25th, Full Launch on March 15th
by Stefan Etienne on 10. Feb, 2010 8:24PM in Mobile, Motorola

Once again a “connect” (Boy Genius’ way to say ninja, contact, etc.) at The Boy Genius Report has leaked some very interesting sales documents on the upcoming Motorola DEVOUR. First of all, the Devour will launch on “indirect channels” with authorized sellers on the 25th, and a full launch will be on March 15th. Interestingly, Verizon has finally recognized that putting prices in docs that could get leaked are not a smart thing to do, so there’s no word on pricing, though there’s intel (intel will be a word used frequently on LM from now on) suggesting that the price is a sweet $99. Below are a ton of shots and an exhaustive spec list, so check it out after the jump! [Via BGR]

Motorola DEVOUR is Official On Verizon Wireless
by Stefan Etienne on 03. Feb, 2010 10:38AM in Mobile, Motorola
Here it is: the Motorola DEVOUR on Verizon Wireless, the nation’s largest carrier. The DEVOUR is sort of a mid-range to the DROID and CLIQ (the latter is on T-Mobile) but the specs are far from shallow: MOTOBLUR running on top of Android 1.6 (darn), a 3.1″ capacitive touch screen, touch-sensitive track pad, 3G connectivity, aGPS, Bluetooth, and a micro-SD card slot. Although Motorola doesn’t talk about multitouch being on this handset we’re hoping just like we hoped with the Nexus One. Big Red considers this to be one of their “advanced devices”, so it requires a $29.99 data plan and you could also get the $350 early termination fee. Expect an early March release. Press release after the jump.
