That rumor was that Steve Ballmer would be speaking for exactly 7 minutes at the WWDC 2010 conference, which Steve Jobs can proudly label “iPhone Country”. An appearance by the CEO of Microsoft wouldn’t be so shocking, if it didn’t actually happen. And that’s what Microsoft just explained in a tweet: good ‘ol Ballmer isn’t showing up at WWDC. That settles that, uh?

Aww, come on Microsoft! First the Courier gets the good ‘ol boot, and now the HP Slate gets the slapping as well? According to my not-so-well-acquainted colleague Mike Arrington over at TechCrunch, the HP Slate is dead, much like the Courier and was confirmed by sources also in the know about the project. Not only this would be the biggest flop I’ve seen with my eyes in the mobile industry, but would be an enormous disappointment by HP as a company. I’ve reached out to HP for comment, and will update this post if I hear from them.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Microsoft. Has. Killed. The. Courier. It’s a dead and done project, never to come out in stores, or into consumer hands, ever. At least that’s what sources close to Microsoft told Gizmodo. What actually happened is pretty simple, actually. The Courier team got a heads-up form Microsoft saying “get off your PCs, Courier is dead dudes.” Okay, so maybe they didn’t say that exactly, but practically, that’s what they said, and that means Courier is dead. This also could’ve been “there’s not only the iPad you know!” ploy by Microsoft, to keep everyone on their toes. It happens with cars, it can happen with mobile products too. Oh well, so long Courier.

Yesterday, when we wrote about Microsoft’s upcoming “It’s Time To Share” event, both the Wall Street Journal and CNET published similar news stories, but claiming that they had sources in-the-know, and claimed that these sources were telling them that it’s the Project Pink phones finally coming out. According to speculation and the articles, the “Project Pink” phones are for “teens” and the “always-connected crowd”. Both phones have QWERTY keyboards and touchscreens, and will run on Verizon’s network, but it is unknown if they run Windows Phone 7 (unlikely) and instead are believed to run a version of Windows CE. There’s only six days left till the event, and you can bet us that we’ll have our ears open to hear what’s going on. Oh, and you can also bet that we’ll be covering it, too.

This is the best month in technology ever. Share what? How about some…nevermind. It’s would be crazy to jump to conclusions now, wouldn’t it? The event is merely a week away! Although there is some speculation that it’s either the infamous Project Pink, or the Courier. The exciting life of a gadget blogger. Ahhhh.
