LG releasing Windows Mobile 7 & Android 2.1 handsets in September and April?

A French blogger (a high profile French blogger, mind you) named Eric at Presse Citron was at a LG Design Lab and tweeted in French (then in English) that LG is planning to release a Windows Mobile 7 handset in September and an Android 2.1 handset in April, first in the States and then Europe soon after. The tweets, which have now been removed, but WMPoweruser caught the tweets via Google Cache. Now we have to figure out this: is this just another rumor, or is it hardcore, strong and solid info that really means Windows Mobile 7 is the future for Windows Mobile? MWC just got a heck of a lot more interesting just now.

LG IQ spotted and demoed on video, going to Telus

lg-iq-vid-rm-eng_600x338

The LG IQ (aka Monaco) is sure to please. It has a very high IQ as a matter of fact: GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA (850/1900/2100MHz) which fit AT&T’s network, 3.2″ WVGA touchscreen, 480 x 800 screen resolution, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, WiFi (b/g), GPS, a fingerprint scanner, and a 5 megapixel camera. Nice package. It’s a QWERTY slider, and it will run Windows Mobile 6.5, and will get LG’s S-Class UI. All powered by the scrumptious Snapdragon processor. It’s going to Telus in Canada, and hopefully over here; it was supposed to come in November to AT&T, now supposedly coming in the holiday season. The full video is after the jump.

New Rumor: Actual Google Phone in the works?

google-phone-2

There’s always been talk of a “Google Phone”. An actual phone from Google, running Android; showcasing Google’s dream of what an Android phone should be. Today TechCrunch has given some signs that the Google phone is being developed with either Samsung or LG building it, but because Samsung builds parts for the iPhone, LG might be the real contender here. My theory is that the Google phone has been in development, and it might be coming around the time that the Chrome OS comes out next year. That way Google could make a full blast on the market, and as a sign of power from Google.

The only thing for sure is that the Google phone is coming, why wouldn’t it? Google has Android and tons of OEMs probably willing to build it for them, so let’s wait and see.
