The Optimus series recently outed by LG will feature Android 2.2 FroYo as the baseline, and will include both high-end and entry-level Android devices (including a tablet, yum), which would be available overseas (not the U.S.A guys). The Optimus One “with Google” (per usual) will include Android 2.2, an OMAP3630 processor, a 3.8-inch display, HD camera, and HDMI/DNLA support. Secondly there’s the Optimus Chic (optimus means “best” in Latin, dudes) which also has FroYo. Lastly the Optimus Android 2.2 tablet will be a high-end, sleek and stylish tablet with tons of processing power. The three devices mentioned before will all be released in second half of 2010, and 7 more devices will join the crop later on.

LG Ally Review: It’s All Plastic, But It’s Decent
by Stefan Etienne on 03. Jul, 2010 10:46AM in Android, LG, Mobile, Reviews, Verizon

The LG Ally is the cheapest Android phone you can find on Verizon Wireless, which would be $99 on a two-year agreement. It’s an all plastic build, including the screen, which makes everything feel… plasticky. I tested, flown over 300+ miles, and navigated with the Ally for quite a while, and this post was written while tethering to the device. So what do I have to say about the Ally? In one word word: decent. In longer words, “it’s all plastic, and is no DROID, but it’s meh.” Let’s move on to figure out why…
LG Ally Now Available On Verizon
by Stefan Etienne on 27. May, 2010 8:21PM in Android, LG, Mobile, Verizon
The LG Ally was delayed for a full week, and that’s an eternity if you pre-ordered your phone and expected it a week earlier. Fear no more! Now the LG Ally is available on Verizon Wireless for $99 on a 2-year contract that will slowly suck the life out your wallet, and pre-orders will now ship out. Just saying. Source: Verizon

Verizon LG Ally Delayed By A Week For Reasons Unknown
by Stefan Etienne on 22. May, 2010 11:22AM in Android, LG, Mobile, Verizon, WTF

The Verizon LG Ally is nothing special, but it’s a so-so okay Android 2.1 slider with a 3.2-inch multitouch screen, but for a very special price of $99. Availability was labeled as May 20th by Verizon and LG, but guess what? It’s been delayed. By a week, as seen in the LG Ally Forums:
Dear Valued Customer,
This notification is to inform you that Verizon Wireless has received your pre-order of the LG Ally. We have extended the pre-order period for the LG Ally until May 26th.
Since you have pre-ordered, you will be the first to receive the phone upon initial availability on or after May 27th.
We appreciate your business, and we will send you another confirmation email as soon as your LG Ally ships.
Sincerely,
Verizon Wireless
Like I said, the LG Ally isn’t a major Android phone, but it’s been delayed, which is still annoying. Darn you Iron Man 2!
LG Ally Specs And Official Site Get Confirmed
by Stefan Etienne on 04. May, 2010 9:03AM in Android, LG, Mobile, Verizon

In a recent minisite outing by LG, the full specs for the LG Ally has come into light. First off, the Ally uses a 3.2-inch screen at an unknown resolution, Android 2.1, Bluetooth, full slide-out QWERTY with a directional keypad, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, a microSD card slot with 16GB of storage, and the ability to use the 3D apps dock that the Nexus One exclusively possesses, as well as the entire stock of official Google apps. The carrier availability is still in lingo, but after seeing the Verizon Wireless logo on the phone, you can pretty much say it’s headed there.

LG Ally is confirmed by LG, launch date is May 20th
by Stefan Etienne on 03. May, 2010 4:09PM in Android, LG, Mobile, Verizon

While LG wasn’t kind enough to give us release dates, pricing, and carrier availability (we think it’s Verizon), they did confirm the existence of their first U.S Android handset, the LG Ally. Since it is part of the Iron Man 2 marketing extravaganza, there will be lots of Iron Man 2 related content on the phone, and as well as when it’s purchased. There will also be an event held in New York on May 11th promoting the handset and other “Stark worthy” tech. Think of it much like the Stark Expo in the movie, except in real life. And no Iron Man suit of course. Source: LG
LG LU2300 is one killer looking Android, but will it make it Stateside?
by Stefan Etienne on 09. Apr, 2010 9:32AM in Android, Leaks, LG, Mobile, Rumors

First to knock off what some of the other blogs might be doing by only referencing this leak to AndroidGuys: you’re wrong. An extra source of the leak is at this “source” link. Now onto the story…
The LG LU2300 is another Android phone packing Android 2.1, a 1Ghz Snapdragon, 3.5 AMOLED 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY, 5 megapixel camera, 720p DivX compatibility, DMB tuner, and the common GPS, 3G, and Wi-Fi. As for availability, it’s too bad that for now it’s only coming out in Korea, but anything’s possible right? Just like this could also be the LG “Aloha”, another rumored Android phone, that we have not seen, nor really heard of yet.

Microsoft Employee Presents Windows Phone 7 Series Prototype Straight From LG
by Stefan Etienne on 27. Feb, 2010 6:32PM in Breaking, LG, Mobile, Windows Phone

Aaron Woodman, the director of consumer experiences for Microsoft’s mobile division, was live on today’s Engadget Show. And what did he bring along? Well obviously a slide-out QWERTY Windows Phone 7 Series handset from LG. Duh. It’s a prototype so everything you’re going to see at the source link will change, but it’s nice to finally see some branded Windows Phone 7 phones (no pun intended). There’s a small specs overview: 5 megapixel camera, QWERTY keyboard, a bit thicker than the iPhone and Nexus One, and has six actual buttons (meaning not touch-sensitive).
Conveniently at the source link you’ll also have some video of this slider in action.
