What’s a good way to start off the weekend of tech news after the abomination that is April Fool’s jokes (albeit some are funny)? Well, it turns out the Windows 8 welcome screen has been (purportedly) leaked and borrows many (if not all) elements seen in the Metro UI seen in Windows Phone 7 and previously the Zune HD. According to the report by DownloadSquad, clicking your profile photo logs you in and on the “tablet edition”, a swipe is made across screen to achieve the same thing. Looks promising.

T-Mobile G2 Pricing Seen In Latest Leak Through T-Mobile’s Faucet
by Stefan Etienne on 01. Sep, 2010 5:44PM in Android, HTC, Leaks, Mobile, Rumors, T-Mobile

So the T-Mobile G2 pricing you ask? According to unofficial but ding-on-the-right-note-every-time TMoNews, the G2 will cost $199.99 on a 2-year contract, and $499.99 without. Mind you that T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, and the phone supports HSPA+ bands, so it’s a match made in heaven. Now all we (the tech industry and consumers) is an official unveiling and some detailed specifications. And of course a press invite *wink*.

Blackberry Curve 9300 Leaks Out, Came With BlackBerry OS 5.0?
by Stefan Etienne on 25. Jun, 2010 10:34PM in Leaks, Mobile, RIM

So yeah, this is interesting. Jon4lakers as he is usally known is my favorite guy when it comes to gadget videos (especially in his head-to-head matchups!). Anyways, back to my job to delivering you the fine reader, tonight’s 10:29 PM Eastern Time news. The Blackberry Curve 9300 (on the left side) has been leaked out, with only a small trifle of new features. Besides the outdate OS 5.0 making an appearance, the prototype packed some redesigns (reead: different plastics), 3G European bands, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. The hands-on video, is at the source link everyone!**
**Oh, and BTW, this is only making RIM look even worse. This is bad publicity if RIM keeps on pumping out outdated and weak phones like these.

Droid X sides along the Eris, EVO 4G, and iPhone in leaked shot
by Stefan Etienne on 12. Jun, 2010 2:06PM in Android, Mobile, Motorola, Rumors, Verizon

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Look at this mates: the Droid X, alongside the Droid Eris, EVO 4G, and iPhone 3GS. And guess what? The Droid X is a massive slab of awesomeness with a completely re-tuned version of MOTOBLUR. And I’d also like to say it’s slighty bigger than the EVO 4G (read: I’m serious). Check out the shots at the source link and the rest of the fine work made possible by Android Forums user matrix2004. Droid X FTW? Possibly.

Motorola Droid 2 seen in the flesh, sorta
by Stefan Etienne on 10. Jun, 2010 11:49PM in Android, Mobile, Motorola, Rumors, Verizon
The Motorola Droid 2 is here (sorta!) in its entirety (excluding, pricing, release date, and pictures not by Mr.BlurryCam). Sporting a fashionable 3.7″ display, 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi tethering, 8GB internal memory, pre-installed 8GB microSD card, updated version of MOTOBLUR (2.0?), and 750MHz OMAP 3 processor; it’s purportedly running Android 2.1 Eclair instead of FroYo, but hopfully it’ll find it once the original Droid does (no pun intended). And yes folks, your 13-year-old gadget blogger is back from NYC, and will post his 2 new TV interviews later next week.

Extremely Repetitive: The iPhone 4, Torn Apart, This Time In Portugal
by Stefan Etienne on 01. Jun, 2010 1:00PM in Apple, Hardware, Mobile, Rumors

The iPhone 4. If there has been one handset, one gadget, one phone that has had the most success, then the iPhone 4 will be known as the most annoyingly repetitive to write down reports about. Starting with the Giz fiasco, then the Vietnamese, then some weird Chinese, and now the people of Portugal have posted a video of the iPhone 4′s outer casing. While nobody can verify if this set if authentic, you can just watch the videos after the break, to decide for yourself. Oh, and BTW, isn’t Steve going to be at Walt Mosseberg’s D8 conference tonight? I figured, maybe something will show up there.

Reporting! Verizon Droid Shadow and DROID 2 Appear In Verizon’s Systems
by Stefan Etienne on 29. May, 2010 3:21PM in Android, Leaks, Mobile, Motorola, Rumors, Verizon

Hear that siren! No you don’t? OK then, well whatever, because DroidLife doesn’t hear it either. The dudes who live lives as Droids have uncovered the Motorola Droid 2 and Droid Shadow residing peacefully in Verizon’s internal systems (they’re internal, don’t ask us where they are, ’cause we know). Other than the fact that they are there and they are in VZW’s systems, that’s all good for Android, right? Hopefully so.

Samsung SGH-i897: Android 2.1 Rockin’, 4-Inch AMOLED, Headed For AT&T
by Stefan Etienne on 28. May, 2010 4:16PM in Android, AT&T, Leaks, Mobile, Rumors, Samsung

Well, lookie: the first desirable Android handset that is coming to AT&T (surely). Besides the 4-inch AMOLED screen, Android 2.1, a 5 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a Snapdragon processor purportedly and hopefully running at 1Ghz, there’s the AT&T startup screen meaning that this little guy would be the first real Android on AT&T (remember that the Motorola BACKFLIP is a terrible excuse for a smartphone). Now the only thing I’d like more than a release date, review unit, and pricing details is a name for this thing.
We can’t keep on calling it by its model number, “SGH-i897″, can we?
