Earlier morning on this post-Black Friday apocalypse Saturday, dev-team special ops member MuscleNerd mearly mentioned that now he can beat up your iPhone 3G/3GS running iOS 4.2.1. Actually, what ultrasn0w really said is that their unlocking tool is still in development for the older iPhones, as they use the older 05.15.04 baseband, and the iPhone 4 uses a completely different one. A release will be out soon, and iPhone 4 owners will have to wait a little longer. Via: Twitter and dev-team
Turns Out iOS 4.2 Is Almost Ready To Be Unlocked/Jailbroken/Whatever

iOS 4 now available on the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and then some

So! Have you gotten yourself iOS 4 yet? If you haven’t, here’s what you need to know to get it. First, look at your device. If it’s the iPhone 3G, 3GS, or by some chance the unreleased iPhone 4 (contact me if you have it), then you’d be good to go. For precautions back up your files when plugging in your iPhone to iTunes (9.2 is the requirement), and new iPod Touch owners should also be in luck. The build’s reference number is 8A293, just to be sure that it’s the real thing and brings the iBooks app, Bluetooth wireless keyboard support, multitasking, unified email inbox, and folders, much like Android 2.1 and 2.2. Apparently, Apple and Steve Jobs claims that the new iOS has 1,500 new features, so I’ll let you live through the glory to find out all of them, yourself.

iPhone OS 4.0: The Details You’re Itching To Know About
by Stefan Etienne on 08. Apr, 2010 3:29PM in Apple, Apps, Breaking, Featured, Guides
iPhone OS 4.0 has made its debut today with Steve Jobs as your presenter at the Apple Headquarters. Main new features of the new OS are — wait for it — multitasking, global Mail inbox, iAd, Enterprise features, and the GameCenter, all coming to iPhone owners this summer (more on that after the jump), while iPad owners should expect it this fall. Let’s go over what was announced in a pretty well-ordered list:
You can buy iPhones without contract at the Apple Store. But there’s a catch..
by Stefan Etienne on 22. Mar, 2010 7:05PM in Apple
You read that right. A catch. Strangely this hasn’t been done for years now, but Apple will now let you walk out with 1 (one) iPhone out of the virtual Apple Store without an AT&T contract, per day. So what’s the catch?
You won’t be able to use it on any network besides AT&T. Oh Apple, how you amaze me at times, good and bad! And here’s the pricing scheme: 3G for 8GB at $499; 3GS 16GB for $599; 3GS for 32GB at $699.

iPhone OS 3.1.3 Is Available Now, Brings Bug Fixes
by Stefan Etienne on 02. Feb, 2010 2:19PM in Apple, Breaking
For those of you waiting for iPhone OS 4.0, you’ll have to wait longer. The new iPhone OS 3.1.3 is available now, and brings mainly bug fixes for apps and corrects the accuracy of the battery meter on the iPhone 3GS. Not much by far, but it’s one step closer. Get downloading on iTunes, okay?
Gadget Predictions for 2010
by Stefan Etienne on 02. Jan, 2010 10:41AM in Editorials

With the start of a new decade, and the ending of an important one, technology-wise, as well as globally in every aspect (the wars, economy, global warming), it’s time to predict which gadgets might come out this year. That means I have to go into analyst mode, and predict the future, so let’s begin. Here’s what I predict will come out in the year 2010:
- The Apple iPhone 4G will come out, along with the Apple iSlate. The annual Macbook refresh will come by and possibly bring USB 3.0 and faster Intel chips.
- Google will rock the world with its Nexus One, and will make Android 3.0 better than the iPhone OS. Google Search will get redesigned.
- PC makers like Dell, HP, Toshiba, and Sony will make newer, faster netbooks, while upgrading the chips in their laptops, as well as graphics cards.
- Microsoft could possibly release a new Zune, and Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
- AT&T’s contract with Apple over the iPhone will expire, and hopefully Apple will move on to Verizon.
- Palm will have some thinking to do with their hardware, but webOS could become popular.
- E-Readers might see their glorious rise, or their tremendous, dramatic fall.
- Motorola could come to the US with the Motorola Calgary, and the XT701 Sholes Tablet.
- LaptopMemo will become a full-fledged gadget blog with an audience, and will sort through the junk and bring you the most awesome scoops.
And those are my predictions for 2010. Have a Happy new Year!
