Facebook Has An iPad App — Hidden In The Code Of Their iPhone App, Of Course

Despite Mark Zuckerberg’s protests that the iPad is not “mobile enough” to get its own Facebook app, Zuckerberg and Co. have designed and completed a Facebook app for the iPad, which is only usable on jailbroken iPads when run through the iPhone app, where the code for the iPad version is hidden, surprisingly. You can check out MG’s coverage and review (with plenty of screenshots) of the app over at our online buddies site,TechCrunch. Via: TC

iTunes App Store Now Houses More Than 100,000 iPad Apps

That’s great news out of Cupertino this morning. The iTunes App Store is now home to 100,000 apps optimized or specifically made for the iPad. Is it unusual? Not in Apple’s case. Does it belittle other tablet makers and their app offerings? Very much so. With tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and HP Touchpad debuting with only a few hundred or thousand apps, to see this milestone come at the launch of said tablets either is infuriating or inspiring for them. Apple Debuts Apple Store 2.0, A Revision For Its Retail Locations

It is nearly 10 years since the first Apple Store opened, so according to much rumor and speculation, Apple was planning something special for the anniversary. Turns out it is a smart move: Using the iPad 2 as an information device rather than numerous placards and stands for other Apple products (including specs, pricing, features, etc.), as well as calling an Apple Specialist to your aid without even going near the employee and kindly asking for help. It’s an amazing addition with a smart execution, as every iPad 2 is enclosed with a thick, sold layer of protection by what seems to be plastic. Via: 9to5Mac

The Daily For iPad Lost $10 Million In Q1 Of Operations With 800k Downloads

If any of you remember The Daily iPad app, then you remember this: the first iOS app to be a true exclusive newspaper of the digital age, and the first to have in-app purchasing. Well, today some stats about The Daily has reached the blogosphere, and it turns out it gathered 800,000 downloads for the first quarter of operations with $10 million in losses in that same period of time. Keep in mind before launch The Daily used $30 million for it’s development. This also doesn’t mean we can’t pass judgement yet, as News Corp. is committed to bringing the app to Android tablets and mentions it’s still a work-in-progress, but as it seems for now, the app’s unperfected design and function may be talking a toll on its possible success. iFixit Tearing Down The Apple iPad 2 As I Type

Today, iFixit is doing their usual actions, as usual, by taking apart the latest gadgets piece by piece, then putting them in right and working order again, then assigning a score to say how easy it is to dismantle. This time, it’s the WiFi iPad 2 (the model that I’ll be getting), and as the day progresses, iFixit will continue to update their page with the latest of every stage when taking the iPad 2 apart. Enjoy the insanity of a new gadget in pieces. Via: iFixit
