Uh Oh: New iPad Runs 10 Degrees Hotter Than iPad 2

Tech site Tweakers.net took the initiative to really find out if the new, 3rd-generation iPad runs at a hotter temperature that the previous model. Well, while running the GLBenchmark and looking at both models through an infrared cam, they confirmed that it runs at 33.6 degrees centigrade (92.5 Fahrenheit), compared to 28.3 centigrade (82.9 Fahrenheit) with the iPad 2.
Keep in mind there are numerous changing variables in their hypothesis. For one, every new iPad could have gone through something in its manufacturing process that could be considered a defect, or some change of sorts that causes the higher temperature. And of course, there’s no control group of other iPad 2s and new iPads to really prove this. It’s only one report. Regardless, if you think it’s warmer when using it, then you’re probably right. Apple’s Fifth Avenue store sold 13,000 new iPads in 12 hours, or 18 per minute. However, that is just a tiny sliver of the 3 million new iPads sold worldwide since launch, which was the 16th of March (just last Friday). How are these numbers so amazing? The
The latest, third-generation iPad. Same prices as the past generation (starting at $499 for a 16GB WiFi model), with double everything. More RAM. Quad-core GPU. New Apple A5x SoC. 2048x1536 Retina display. A much bigger battery. 4G LTE on Verizon and AT&T. It has it all, and it only weighs 1.4 pounds. Apple Stores will begin stocking it starting today, and so will most American tech retail stores. My meta review suggestion is that you grab one as quickly as you can; it’s amazing. Via:
Need I say more? The 3rd generation iPad, 4G LTE model edition,

This is the next-generation iPad. It is marvel of a tablet: it uses 4G LTE technology on AT&T or Verizon Wireless in the United States (plus 3G support worldwide and portable hotspot), a 2048 x 1536 Retina display of 9.7-inches (with 264ppi), a new quad-core GPU system-on-a-chip called the A5X (with dual-core processor), a strong auto-exposure, auto-focus, 5 megapixel backside-illuminated sensor with 1080p stabilized video (the same camera as the iPhone 4S), 10 hours of battery life like the iPad 2 and 9 hours on 4G, with a thicker and heavier body: 9.4mm thick and 1.4 pounds. It also features a new Dictation feature will allows the user to speak to the iPad to type, as you do with Android.
Once again, renowned tech site All Things D is making a very bold prediction seemingly backed by insider sources: the iPad 3 will be announced by Apple at a press event in early March (specifically in the first week, then launched in the 2nd or 3rd week), which is not too far away. It would have a faster processor, Retina display, and nearly the same design as the iPad 2. We shall see. Via:
