Unknown, unseen HTC EVO-like Verizon handset found by BG & Friends

So what did Boy Genius & Friends do today? Well in this case, some tasty tipster leaked out these shots which display in crystal-clear quality the HTC handset that is very much EVO 4G-like, but instead headed to Verizon. An 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, front-facing camera, Sense UI, and has a built-in kickstand. Whatever it might be called, I’ll want this as a review unit in my office. Expect a report of some sort on this handset between the end of this week, and early next week. I am planning something interesting here y’know?

The Final Nexus One stock is gone. Goodbye, Sexy Nexy

The Sexy Nexy, AKA the Google Nexus One, is officially out of stock, and will no longer be sold by Google directly. The purpose of the Nexus One was to inspire all OEMs to make perfect Android handsets. Now every Android phone is getting more and more advanced than before, because of the Nexus One. It had a great run, and it’ll appear on a future feature /Android 2.2 review. Stay Tuned!

Please T-Mobile, start stocking the Nexus One. If it’s possible, that is. Otherwise, so long Nexus One. Until nex time…

Google Gets Its Last Shipment Of Fresh Nexus One For USA Buyers

The last shipment of Nexus One phones, which is the official phone of Google, has arrived for U.S buyers. The Nexus oNe’s failure was pretty large, but in HTC’s and Google’s perspective, the Nexus One is actually very successful.

A fun fact: the Google Nexus One was originally designed to “show” how an Android phone should be built, and debuted the genre “superphone. And now every few weeks, a super sexy Android phone debuts. All thanks to Google’s original idea of how an Android superphone could be.

Although for those of you in Vodafone in Europe and KT in Korea, this news is nothing to you. The Sexy Nexy will still be sold where you are. As for U.S goers, if you want a Nexus One, you’d better fetch it now.

Soon, You Won’t Be Finding An AMOLED In Your Next HTC Phone

Good news everyone, and we have bad news everyone! No really. Due to the outstanding demand of all of the phones that HTC offers (namely the Droid Incredible, Nexus One) the stock of AMOLED screens is down to a point where the devices can’t be manufactured. Samsung produces those AMOLEDs, and they’re saving everything for the Galaxy S (which will be coming to the States as the Vibrant on T-Mobile and Captivate on AT&T). The Galaxy S requires Super AMOLEDs, so in this case Samsung will need all of its resources to produce the screens.

Thus, HTC will be switching many of its handsets to LCD variants. Whether or not they will be labeled as such remains to be seen, but it would be better for everyone if you knew that your next Android phone doesn’t have the AMOLED others have. The exact screens HTC will be installing will be Sony’s S-LCD (Super TFT LCD) which they claim uses less power, and higher resolutions, but with a lower contrast ratio.

On the flipside Samsung is shelling out 2 billion USD for a  plant which should open in July 2011. The new plant will produce AMOLEDs at 10-fold, so Samsung can almost make 30 million displays each month. Cool stuff are going around here, didn’t you know?

HTC Has Its Eye On EVO 4G Screen Sensitivity Issues, Separation Ones Too

The EVO 4G, much like any other handset in the market, has had its fair share of defects and problems. Two of the only real problems with Sprint’s EVO (no, it’s not the battery, its just too powerful for its own good) are the screen slightly separating from the main frame, and the screen being too sensitive. Both, are being resolved by HTC, pronto:

  • The manufacturing process of the EVO is being closely looked at, so that not many screens would “come out” of the frame.
  • As for the sensitivity: a software fix will be blasted over-the-air soon enough.

Nice work, HTC.

HTC Desire headed to “select regional operators” in August, will bring some Sense

The HTC Desire, by far one of the most beautiful handsets ever made, is headed to “select regional operators” in the month of August. Keeping in line the same specs as the Nexus One (1Ghz Snapdragon, Android 2.1 with Sense UI, 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED screen) the lines select regional operators means that the Desire won’t be headed to any of the big four: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile (in that order). So then, who’s ready and waiting? A lot, for sure.

Droid Incredible Shortages Will End — On June 22nd

As seen on the Droid Incredible’s product page on Verizon’s website, shipments for the sold-out and under-produced Droid Incredible by HTC will be available to your ever needy Android phone buying needs. Originally it was supposed be in the middle of next month (read: the shipment delays would end), but it’s been pushed to the 22nd of June, for unknown reasons. But would you really get the Droid Incredible, with the exciting EVO 4G launch looming on the 4th?

HTC To Launch “Aria” Android Phone On AT&T Next Month?

Well this is interesting. HTC, maker of all perfect Android handsets, has a new leak coming out of their faucet. The HTC PC70110 (left) is running Android 2.1 with HTC’s Sense UI and a full QWERTY keyboard, purportedly. A tipster from PhoneDog seems to have confirmed that the handset will launch sometimes in June, and will be called the HTC “Aria”.

Now what remains to be seen is if the rumored June 7th release date is spot on, and if this will be Android’s first proper handset on AT&T, since the Backflip has clearly failed as AT&T’s first Android handset (and it runs Android 1.5, for Android’s sake!).
