Official: HTC Legend hitting Virgin Mobile in Canada

An official announcement for the HTC Legend on Virgin Mobile in Canada was due for a long time, and now it’s official: for a 3-year agreement, the HTC Legend will retail for $79.99 with a 5.0 megapixel camera with auto focus, Android 2.1 with Sense UI, the AMOLED 3.2-inch multitouch screen, Wi-Fi/GPS/3G, and the Legend’s famous sleek unibody aluminium build. Anyone in the U.S. of A feeling extremely annoyed and needy? Not for long you will.

HTC Legend headed exclusively to Bell in Canada?

This isn’t confirmed by any means but Canadian Android news site Mobile Syrup was purportedly reporting that the HTC Legend; complete with 3.2 inch touchscreen, Android 2.1 with Sense, and the best looking design for an Android smartphone in centuries, is headed to Bell in the near future. And since Bell’s radio 3G bands are right on with AT&T’s, a U.S release is also possible.

HTC Legend headed straight to AT&T…says FCC

That’s all I can pretty much vouch for that ugly label above that goes into the battery compartment of the phone. This Legend bears the ID number of PB76100, while the original Legend has the oh-so-close PB76110. Also in the unibody handset are the 3G bands of 850 and 1900MHz WCDMA, meaning that AT&T (oh nooo!) or Rogers, Bell and Telus (Canadian) could carry the Legend. Imagine an HTC Legend with restricted app downloading, no Google search, and AT&T’s network coverage? I need to go in a corner and weep right now.

HTC Legend arriving early to eager customers?

While the official European release date for the HTC Legend stood as sometimes in April, Dutch site Tweakers.net proves otherwise. Several forum members are pleased to announce that they received their units this morning.

This is somewhat special since usually handset makers are stiff when it comes to releasing their gadgets early, HTC being one of them.

Alas, there was no word of the Legend coming to a little place called the U.S., but according to all rumors that points to a solid yes.

Video: HTC Legend gets its extra-early unboxing

Are you interested in seeing the Legendary unibody, sleek and silver, HTC Legend? Of course you are, and that’s why Chris Davies over at SlashGear has his grimy paws on one (we’re jealous), and also did an unboxing video which is embedded above. It’s a near-retail version; reason why I say that is because the microSD card was not included, and there’s no graphic on the box. This should definitely change when the Legend comes in April. Now check out the video and tell us what you think!

New Rumor: AT&T getting HTC Desire, Sprint gets the Legend as the Hero2

While HTC seemed very keen on saying that the oh-so-wonderful HTC Legend and HTC Desire wouldn’t be making their way to the other side of the pond, a tipster from Boy Genius Report proves otherwise. Google is interested in providing the Nexus One on T-Mobile (as they do now), Verizon Wireless (knew that), and also AT&T (that we did not know). All 3 versions would be sold on the Nexus One web store, but the HTC Desire will be the actual AT&T unit that we’ve heard of. Meaning that the Sense UI, Android 2.1, and all are going to make their way in May or June. Also, the Desire will get a slight touch-up in terms of color or finish. As for the Legend, it will head to Sprint as the Hero2. But just as the original Hero made its way to Sprint, it got some modifications (fugly ones), the Legend would also get a facelift of some sort. Otherwise there’s not timeframe for the Hero2 at all. And as your daily piece of caution: always take rumors with a grain of salt. This could all just blow up in our faces. Just saying.

HTC HD Mini Debuts At MWC 2010; A Mini HD2

Heard of the HTC HD2? Okay then, you know the Mini too. With a 3.2-inch HVGA display, it’s crisp enough to not make you feel really small against the HD2′s 4.3-inch super touchscreen. Besides the petite appearance, and usual HTC charm (HTC designs some of the best phones you’ve ever seen), you have Sense UI, and in true imitation of the HD2, it uses Windows Mobile 6.5.3, and will not get the new Windows Phone 7 Series announced yesterday. Let me rephrase that: “the disgraced Windows Mobile 6.5.3″. There, that’s better. But remember that when WM7 launches, you’ll want the best hardware you can get right? This isn’t it. Back to the drawing board HTC, you have a Windows Phone 7 smartphone to design. Oh, and it uses 7.2Mbps 900 / 2100 HSPA bands, with a European and Asia release in April. No word on real specs and carriers, but this is MWC 2010 after all, we’ll know soon enough. Promo vid is waiting for you after the jump.

HTC Desire: The Nexus One with Sense and Flash; Your Next Phone

Here it is folks! The HTC Desire, a Nexus One with the same specs and Snapdragon CPU, same 5 megapixel camera, except with more Sense in mind, and a little more style, only excluding the dual-mic feature that its cousin the N1 has. The same 3.7-inch AMOLED screen is also carried over, but instead of the nearly-useless trackball, you get a much cooler trackpad. Things get really cool though on the flipside with the software, where you’ll have the Weather and News widgets, as well as the new HTC Sense UI Friendstream, which allows you to stream your friends from Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. Helicopter view is also present, and wait for, wait for it — Flash 10.1. So tell me what’s better on more practical here, the Nexus One or the Desire? I think I found my next Android phone, that I will buy. But review it first of course. Promo vid after the break.
