HP Slate priced at €400, with Atom CPU, for June launch?

Definitely reputable Spanish publication Clipset has just come across some pretty up to snuff HP Slate details, which seemingly are directly from HP. About €400 ($546) is the price confirmed so far, with an Atom CPU, full Flash support, USB connectivity, memory card reader, and a back-mounted webcam (seen after the jump). The launch of the HP Slate is slated (pun!) for June, while the Europeans can expect it sometime “before September”. So now all we need to probably know about is the real name, and US availability and pricing. And did anyone notice it’s more expensive than the iPad?

HP Slate seen running Flash, gets 2 videos all for itself

While there are very little to no details on the HP Slate, things are starting to come out. For one thing, since it runs Windows 7 it should support Flash, as well as AIR applications, and Flash games. All of the aforementioned was demonstrated in a video by Adobe, with an actual HP Slate in action. An unusual thing to know is that the Flash is hardware accelerated, probably meaning that there is more than a mere Intel Atom under the slate’s bonnet. HP has also created a promotional video, which bears some resembalance to the recent iPad commercial -- but does that even matter? Both of them embedded for you after the jump. You know, by “jump” we mean the “Read More” link. “Get it”?

HP Slate gets teased with a crystal clear video by CTO Phil McKinney

At CES earlier this month, Steve Ballmer showde off the Apple Tablet’s rival — the HP Slate. HP CTO Phil McKinney decided to share some details of the HP Slate, starting with how it was created 5 years ago as an e-reader, and then HP slowly but surely built up a “rich media experience” that most customers are after, he then said that now in a “perfect storm” of innovation HP has been able to create a multitouch tablet that is well priced and runs Windows 7. That video that I know you want to see is after the “Read More” link.

The HP Slate — Windows 7 And Minor Details

Another exciting event that occurred at the opening CES 2010 Microsoft Keynote is the unveiling of the HP Slate. Now mind you, that’s not the real name, but we’ll call it that for now. You might also notice that the Microsoft Courier is not here, and that it won’t be either.

As quoted by Steve Ballmer: “They’re more powerful than a phone and almost as powerful as a PC. Perfect for reading, surfing the web and taking entertainment on the go.” Besides knowing the fact that it runs Windows 7, has a touchscreen, is made by HP, and was demonstrated using the PC Kindle app, as well as a movie mode, ebook mode and PC mode, everything else about the “HP Slate” is pretty much in the dark. According to Ballmer himself the HP Slate will be coming this year, and HP says they will be providing more details after the keynote (which was last night). In the meantime, check out the video and extra press image after the cut.
