Uhh, unexpected? The Motorola ATRIX 4G, a handset so undeniably cool on AT&T that has yet to be released, that it can’t support 1080p HD video recording or content using the Tegra 2 processor — at launch. Hopefully soon thereafter, the promised update will appear. Keep in mind without 1080p, the Atrix would still have 720p, its slick speeds, awesome dock which is a laptop, and the name — Atrix 4G sounds a little like pwnage, no? Via: Motorola

Nikon Coolpix S8100 First Impressions
by Stefan Etienne on 08. Dec, 2010 1:00PM in Cameras, Nikon

So turns out this is a day for gadgets to come straight into the “office” and onto LaptopMemo for review. The S8100 is high-end point-and-shoot camera, similar to everyone’s favorite Canon Powershot S95. It has a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 10x digital zoom, 1080p HD video recording (with a slow motion 240FPS video mode), continuous normal shooting for 5 shots at 10fps, panorama and macro modes (both work great), ISO up to 3200, EXPEED C2 image processing tech, motion detection and image stabilization, HDMI and AV-out, and a 3-inch screen with a resolution of 921,000-dots (!).
One cool feature to note of is the Nikon Best Shot Selector (shortened “BSS”, funny!), which takes ten shots at once when the shutter button is pressed, then picks the sharpest and best image out of the bunch, and then saves it on the SD card (SDHC is also supported). I haven’t had much time to play with the S8100, but considering I’m heading out for a few hours and charging it via USB to an outlet, I’ll take it with me. The review will be posted just a couple of days before Christmas (or sooner). Hit past the cut for 2 more shots of the Coolpix S8100.
LaCie MosKeyto Overview (video!)
by Stefan Etienne on 29. Sep, 2010 3:37PM in Gadgets
Remember that small, inexpensive, 6mm USB 2.0 flash drive called MosKeyto, built by LaCie? Well, here it is in our sweaty palms, ready to be tested with over 22GB of photos and videos. This tiny little gadget is almost unboxed above, but although to some technical difficulties (read: me not charging the DSLR), we’ve had to resort to the Samsung Fascinate’s 720p HD video recording camera.
Also, this particular model is the 4GB version that retails for $18, an 8GB variant that goes for $28, and lastly a 16GB MosKeyto that has yet to be priced. Another feature worth noting of is that the MosKeyto comes with 4GB of free online storage, but first requires you to signup using the serial number of the hardware.
Stay tuned later this week for the full review!
HTC Desire HD/Ace demoed on video with plently of high-end good stuff
by Stefan Etienne on 09. Aug, 2010 8:47AM in Android, Hardware, HTC, Mobile
The HTC Desire HD is one of the cooler looking, unreleased devices that run Android out there right now, with a half matte, half glossy back, 4.3-inch screen, 3.5mm headset jack, and dual-LED flash. Check it out in the HD YouTube video above from the newly (and cleverly named) 247android.com blog.

An iPhone 4…Gets Microwaved. This Is Cool Stuff (Not)!
by Stefan Etienne on 26. Jun, 2010 8:28PM in Apple, AT&T, Internet, Mobile, Science
So, in a boring Saturday in the tech blog world, we have resorted to a man microwaving his iPhone 4, in HD on YouTube. Sigh, it was bound to happen. Enjoy the destruction (if you can bear it).
Pentax K-x DSLR Review
by Stefan Etienne on 19. May, 2010 11:12PM in Cameras, Featured, Reviews

The Pentax K-x is an entry-level 12.4 megapixel DSLR camera targeted at — entry-level users. And that means dumbed-down controls, easy to navigate interface, easy mode switching, and a softy pricing scheme. But all of this doesn’t mean the K-x is limited to beginners: the K-x is a great DSLR camera. In fact it is anything but an “entry-level, easy to navigate interface, easy mode switching, and a softy pricing scheme” type of DSLR. Read on to see the review (and my thoughts), in detail.
iPhone (HD?) to record 720p HD video according to code
by Stefan Etienne on 05. May, 2010 6:07PM in Apple, Apps, Mobile, Rumors
While some dissect the new iPhone OS 4.o Beta 3 in hopes of new features, others like the more advanced and iPhone OS-gifted type, find just what a daily gadget news blog is looking for. That is of course, two code snippets referring to 640×480 video capture and 1280×720 HD modes as seen in the following:
AVCaptureSessionPreset640×480
AVCaptureSessionPreset1280×720
As a matter of fact, this would only increase the chance the new iPhone is called “iPhone HD”, since the screen resolution has been bumped up, along with the camera, and now purportedly HD video recording. iLike this iDea.

Nintendo partners with Netflix to bring — Netflix on Wii
by Stefan Etienne on 13. Jan, 2010 10:27AM in Gaming, Hardware, Nintendo
Soon this spring Nintendo Wii owners will have access to Netflix’s media streaming services. Start at a minimum plan of $8.99 a month, users will have the same privileges as Xbox 360 and PS3 owners. As with the PS3, Wii owners will have to obtain a free disc from Netflix’s website, and will have to load the disc to actually stream content. The disc ships this Spring, and you’ll need a broadband connection on your Wii. What I’m wondering though is that since the Wii cannot go past the 480p mark, there will be no HD. Would you still bite?
