What’s the catch? Well, it only works on AT&T 3G bands and T-Mobile 2G, as well as some phone carriers overseas (unless some hacking is performed). The price for a black 16GB model? $649. Pricey for sure, but if you have the extra dough lying around, it’s worth it if you don’t want to jailbreak your shiny new iPhone 4, which sooner or later this year, will get succeeded by new iPhone hardware of some sort. Just saying. Via: Apple Store

AT&T is buying T-Mobile. Oh noes? Depends. AT&T has agreed to buy T-Mobile from its parent company, Deutsche Telekom, for a beefy $39 billion. It’s a bold move, which also expands their “4G” network as well. This means there is also a GSM monopoly in the United States. And of course, as per government regulatory approval, the deal should be finalized within the next 12 months. Press release after the cut. Via:
If you have a SIM card and $450, along with some reason to infinitely love HP webOS 2.0 and the Palm Pre 2, then HP is selling an unlocked version of the handset for $450, starting today, and shipping in 24 hours. Oh, and as a refresher of the specs for you, here ya go: 1 GHz processor, 3.1-inch multi-touch display with 320 x 480 resolution (meh), Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, GPS, 16GB of on-board storage, and a 5 megapixel camera. The Motorola DROID 2 Global is by far the best Droid available: a 1.2GHz processor (that’s right, 1.2 GHz, not 1GHz), and dual CDMA/GSM radio support for usage in almost any country anywhere, providing you have a SIM card, the Droid 2 Global is available for $199.99 after $100 mail-in rebate and a 2-year agreement in only white at the moment; a black version possibly may be released later on.
Well I’ll be damned. The only providers for Windows Phone 7 handsets will be GSM-based, meaning they use SIM cards and are AT&T and T-Mobile. CDMA-based carriers like Sprint and Verizon, will be left out in the cold till 2011, as recently speaking to CNET, Microsoft senior product manager, Greg Sullivan, said:
For those of you wondering, the DROID 2 is the Milestone 2, except with GSM bands and support for SIM cards. Happy now? The Milestone 2 has a 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel shooter with 720p video recording, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G mobile hotspot capabilities, 8 GB micro-SD card, Flash 10.1, DLNA support, and Android 2.2. Unlike the U.S counterpart, the MILESTONE 2 has the full Motoblur UI, instead of the one featured in the Droid X.
