Google+ Now Has 10 Million Users After 2 Weeks And 1 Billion Shares Everyday

Two weeks into Google+ being Google+, and 10 million users have already registered for the service (keep in mind Facebook has 750 million). With a massive update coming soon, user-requested features will add to the stability of the social networking service, along with updates to the Android app and the iOS app debuting. According to the Google CEO on his Google+ post, Larry Page states that 1 billion items are shared and received on Google+ everyday. For a social networking so new, this is quite an amazing feat.

Google+ App Submitted For Approval On The App Store, Says Google+ Team Member

According to Erica Joy, a Google employee and very well possibly a Google+ team member has stated that the Google+ app for iOS has been submitted for approval some time ago. Since it only is a social networking app, you can be pretty sure we won’t have another Google/Apple scandal when it comes to apps (read: the Google Voice app saga), but you never know with Apple’s app approval policies. In the meantime, did I mention I’m enjoying Google+ on Android? Android users have had an app ever since the service launched.

Now Anyone Can Join Google+ By Using Their Google Account

That’s all folks. Google+ is now open to anyone and everyone with a Google account, as according to the Google+ homepage. Yours truly is on Google+, so you can add me to a circle here. Since the service is highly successful within its first week of availability, I do have to say I’m putting positive bets on Google+ and that already it will be one of the major new social networks of the new digital social age. Oh, and it’s awesome. Via: Google+

Google+, The Social Network From Google, Is Here

This is better than Buzz. This is more intuitive than +1. It’s Google+. Google’s very first social network with great features will have to play catch-up with Facebook, but with an amazing interface and a mix of great features, it may have a chance. While I have not personally handled Google+ (but of course will), I can’t say what I like about it myself, but I will go into what Google+ has: Circles, which allows you to group contacts together in various social circles and share things only with the particular circles of your choosing; Sparks, which are topics similar to Twitter’s hashtags, and Hangouts, which are video chat rooms. There is also a mobile element/app to Google+, and for now focuses on text updates, photo and video sharing, along with good old location. It is currently in a private beta. A video after the break demos and explains Google+ features.

It is in fact so fast, it’s mind-blowing (it really, really is). Instant Pages launches this week in Chrome Beta, and is available today in the dev version of Chrome. It also will launch on mobile devices in the coming weeks.

There’s also Google Images with Instant, which works just like the text variant. Also interesting is search with an image, which as stated, allows you to search images with an image, or with detailed text. This feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks. Via: Google

Google Is Silently Adding Voice-To-Text Search On Its Homepage

It’s been a staple for mobile operating systems for a while now (hello, Android and iOS), but now, laptops and desktops will jump into the fray that is voice-to-text searching. Google has been testing a voice-to-text feature on some computers that visit Google.com, if your browser supports it and if you have an active microphone. The feature, dubbed “Speak Now”, may be eventually rolled out to all users.
