BT Has Sued Google For Almost All Their Services

In the latest lawsuit against Google, British telecom provider, BT has sued Google for nearly everything they do. This mass patent infringement case by BT states that just about Google does infringes upon some older patents BT owns, which of course will result in months of dispute, back and forth. Products include Google Search, Android, AdSense, Gmail, Google+, Google Docs, Google Music, and Google Maps (yeah, it’s pretty nuts). It’s time to see where this transpires. Via: The Guardian, Gizmodo

Google+ Hits Beta With 9 New Major Features

Despite Google+ being available for over 90 days now, it was nothing more than a field trial. As of today it has hit beta, and with that 9 new features worth mentioning. First off is searching for users and posts (finally). Next is open signups for everyone, turning Google+ into a beta, so now you can actually get on it if you hadnt been invited. Next is video Hangouts for mobile devices starting with an update to their Android app and an iOS app update coming soon. Another feature is to make a public broadcast that anyone can see, with up to nine different users as part of your public broadcast, however this feature may be restricted to famous users or corporations.

Also added to hangouts is Screensharing (show whatever is on your screen with people in your Hangout), Sketchpad (for doodling with people, or showing friends your doodles) Google Doc (obviously for serious stuff), and Named Hangouts, for when you can organize certain Hangouts about certain subjects, for example.

And this all comes two days before Facebook’s f8 conference. War, my friends, is commencing.

Games And Google+: It’s Here And It Wants To Pwn N00bs

Google has gone ahead and released Games for Google+ (and with the option to “mute” them). That’s right, just like Facebook, except without all the clutter, ads, and stuff like that. It will have all the usual things, like achievements, recent games played, which games certain circles are playing, and so on. The launch titles include, Bejeweled, Angry Birds, Dragon Age: Legends and a few more seen at the source link. Also, here’s what Google+ mainly has to say:

“Today we’re adding games to Google+. With the Google+ project, we want to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to the web. But sharing is about more than just conversations. The experiences we have together are just as important to our relationships. We want to make playing games online just as fun, and just as meaningful, as playing in real life.”

And interestingly, how it’ll work:

“When you’re ready to play, the Games page is waiting—click the games button at the top of your stream. You can see the latest game updates from your circles, browse the invites you’ve received and check out games that people you know have played recently. The Games page is also where your game accomplishments will appear. So you can comfortably share your latest high score—your circles will only see the updates when they’re interested in playing games too.”

“If you’re not interested in games, it’s easy to ignore them. Your stream will remain focused on conversations with the people you care about.”

Google also let game devs know how they can code games for Google+, seen at their Developer Blog.

Google+ App Submitted For Approval On The App Store, Says Google+ Team Member

According to Erica Joy, a Google employee and very well possibly a Google+ team member has stated that the Google+ app for iOS has been submitted for approval some time ago. Since it only is a social networking app, you can be pretty sure we won’t have another Google/Apple scandal when it comes to apps (read: the Google Voice app saga), but you never know with Apple’s app approval policies. In the meantime, did I mention I’m enjoying Google+ on Android? Android users have had an app ever since the service launched.
