It marks a win for Verizon’s customers: their $2 “convenience fee”, (which isn’t entirely convenient if people don’t like it) has been dropped, not only due to customer feedback, but like an angry German Shepherd dog, the FCC has begun growling in a most familiar manner. An FCC official states that, ”on behalf of American consumers, we’re concerned about Verizon’s actions and are looking into the matter.” If the new policy is allowed to go live on January 15th, then customers will have to pay this additional fee to pay their bill over the phone or online. How inconvenient!
But since according to VZW’s press release, seen after the break, it’s been scrapped. So that’s good.

Other than the simple fact the HTC Merge just visited the FCC and was (probably) approved, a Verizon version is specifically what was tested, along with a user manual that mentioned the usual Verizon services. Via: FCC

The Nexus S? Does it exist? According to the FCC, it does (and to leaked spy shots) and now it has new Bluetooth / WiFi and GPS antennas. Contrary to the belief that the Sexy Nexy S was delayed due to a dual-core processor seems wrong due to this new filing for the Samsung GT-i9020T (a.k.a Nexus S). Now all we need is a release date for — soon. Via: FCC, Eng

What have we here? The new king of Droids, actually. This report is coming to you at 12:21 AM Eastern time, so bear with me here. Essentially what’s going on is that the Android slider that made an EVO 4G look small is back, this time being tested by the FCC. The possible specs of the HTC PD42100 (it hasn’t gotten a “proper” codename) are CDMA 2000 and GSM 850 plus Bluetooth and 802.11b/g/n WiFi at 2.4GHz frequencies. And then a 1.2GHz processor or 4-inch display with removable battery. This thing is a monster, and I can’t wait to try it out for myself.
I mean, LaptopMemo, the site, the readers; my audience. Of course.

The Sprint EVO 4G has made a pit-stop at the FCC to well, get certified. What’s awesome is that WiMAX, the EVO itself, and everything needed for a killer Android smartphone has been approved by the feds. The model number, PC36100, is sporting WiMAX on Sprint and Clearwire’s 2500MHz radio bands, along with regular Sprint EV-DO (3G is regular now?). External photos have not been published because of that darn confidentiality letter by HTC execs, but that doesn’t matter, does it (yes it does)? So now Sprint, be kind enough to do the following: give the world a release date, pricing, and us a review unit. Pretty please?

Red Android phone alert! The Samsung Moment 2 is now in the hands of the ever-so-gadget-loving feds at the Federal Communications Commission. Probably complete with Android 2.1, the Touchwiz 3.0 UI, a QWERTY slide-out, and Sprint EV-DO, the Moment2 is now different than the original Moment in terms of aesthetics and design. Although we don’t know what the true specs are, it’s always nice to know that the Moment2 is actually real. Via: AndroidCentral, AndroidGuys

Coming straight from the hot test labs at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the guys at Unwired View is a new HTC-branded handset clearly sporting a full QWERTY keyboard, those familiar notification lights from the Sprint Hero, AT&T 3G bands (850 / 1900 MHz), the same navigational “buttons” seen on the Droid Incredible, and the codename HTC PC70110. For quite a bit now HTC has been polling users on Facebook regarding a new name for an upcoming handset, Wildfire being one of them. More pics at the end of the post.

Looks like the Samsung Galaxy S didn’t have such a bad time at the FCC, and passed their unnumbered amount of tests. Above is a nice little outline complete with the FCC’s label. Since the FCC is American, that means only one thing: it’s gotta be coming Stateside. Sporting AT&T-friendly bands, 850MHz and 1900MHz, that would mean that in the coming months you could expect it to baffle the Motorola BACKFLIP, AT&T’s first (questionable) Android handset. Now if only AT&T made this real…
