HTC Lexikon Leaks As Verizon’s Third Android With Sense?

The HTC Lexikon, very possibly the next HTC-built DROID in the line, is due at Verizon, as the leaked image above from Droid-Life suggests. Let’s quickly go down into the nitty-gritty: Android 2.2 with a 3.8-inch WVGA display and 480 x 800 resolution, 512 MB RAM, MSM7630 chipset, 800 MHz processor (perhaps the new Snapdragon?), 5 megapixel camera, 4 GB internal storage, QWERTY keypad, and HTC Sense UI.

On a personal note, what makes the Lexikon coolest is that awesome capacitive search button and that serious groove with the HTC logo on it.

Unknown, unseen HTC EVO-like Verizon handset found by BG & Friends

So what did Boy Genius & Friends do today? Well in this case, some tasty tipster leaked out these shots which display in crystal-clear quality the HTC handset that is very much EVO 4G-like, but instead headed to Verizon. An 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, front-facing camera, Sense UI, and has a built-in kickstand. Whatever it might be called, I’ll want this as a review unit in my office. Expect a report of some sort on this handset between the end of this week, and early next week. I am planning something interesting here y’know?

Motorola DROID 2 First Impressions

So the Motorola DROID was the slab of rock that turned into a beautiful scuplture, forever stamping Android into the realm of successful smartphones, forever .This time, Motorola has challenged itself, and released the DROID 2. And honestly, it’s set on the right path:

  • The overall rounded body gives better contour and feel.
  • The speed offered by the new 1 GHz processor is easily recognizable.
  • The MOTOBLUR UI seen on the DROID X with Android 2.2 is very cool.
  • The slide-out QWERTY has the same feel as on the Droid 1 — except a trillion times more practical and better.
  • It still remains uber-geek, and uber-cool, even for those new to technology.

According to the Verizon rep (who is now an official ninja for LaptopMemo now) besides some VZW secrets I’ll share with all of you later this week, the DROID 2 has been selling. As he said “people are buying it a lot”. Of course that’s not including my favorite thing  -- numbers, but he’s a Verizon ninja, so let’s take his word for it. Check out the gallery below for shots of the DROID 2!

Some Extra Clear DROID 2 Photos LEAK Out

So while the DROID X is having the time of its life right now, being cuddled by the execs at Verizon and consumers, the successor to the too-successful Motorola Droid is steaming along, and the photo above is the clearest photo we’ve seen of the handset yet. It’ll clearly run the nameless but MOTOBLUR-like UI, which is used by the DROID X.

The sleeker, more rounded out body design along with a re-arrangement of the touch capacitive buttons, is by far the only real changes the Droid 2, besides 8GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM (twice the original’s) and finally the same 1GHz processing power as seen in the X. In fact, the Droid 2, which will retail for $199 on a 2-year contract, is every bit like the Droid X and Droid 1, except smaller (than the X), faster (than the 1), and has a slide-out QWERTY that knocks both out.

As for Android builds, the possibility of the Droid 2 coming with Android 2.1 then updating at the same time as the Droid X wouldn’t be surprising, but since there isn’t much to go by in that sector, I’ll leave it at that, folks.

TweetUp snatches up Twidroid, changes name and increases popularity

The idealab company Tweetup, which does bid-based and influence-ranked twitter search, has bought the #1 Twitter app on Android — Twidroid. Reflected in today’s 3.4.0 release, twidroid has been renamed to Twidroyd to avoid getting zapped with a lightsaber by Mr. George Lucas, who owns the trademarks to everything called “droid” due to a little something we call Star Wars. The interesting part of this deal/buyout is that Twidroyd will be bundled into “millions of phones” by 5 leading Android handset manufacturers. Looks pretty exciting, especially for the competition that will arise with Twitter’s official app that already is close #2.  Check after the line break for the press release!
