AmazonWireless is selling all the Droids — the X, Incredible, 2, and Pro — for one darn penny each on a new contract with free activation, which lasts until November 22nd.

The DROID 2 really does feel — unreal — probably due to the inclusion of plastic on the front. Like a toy. It doesn’t feel like a serious DROID, like the X, Incredible, Pro or the original.
Thanks to the Verizon rep who unboxed it for me, and even let me bypass the activation screens just to take a quick look at an Android 2.2 device I’ve seen and used before.

The new Droid 2 photos have been released today, displaying the World Edition version. Besides running the same software, being clocked at an amazing 1.2 GHz, and a new paint job, this seems like the ultimate DROID of all time. Now Verizon, will you be starting an upgrade program for those early adopters?
Recently Verizon has had a puzzle game you can play. It requires vast knowledge of the Star Wars trilogy and some free time. Basically, if you’re the first person to find and figure out the puzzle, you get a R2-D2 special edition DROID 2. In the meantime, yesterday’s winner David H. found some press pics of the Droid 2′s R2-D2 dock, which doesn’t look like an X-Wing, has no missiles, cockpit, grappling hooks, etc. (you get the idea).
But it’s still awesome looking.
So the Motorola DROID was the slab of rock that turned into a beautiful scuplture, forever stamping Android into the realm of successful smartphones, forever .This time, Motorola has challenged itself, and released the DROID 2. And honestly, it’s set on the right path:
According to the Verizon rep (who is now an official ninja for LaptopMemo now) besides some VZW secrets I’ll share with all of you later this week, the DROID 2 has been selling. As he said “people are buying it a lot”. Of course that’s not including my favorite thing – numbers, but he’s a Verizon ninja, so let’s take his word for it. So, an R2-D2 Android phone? Actually a Motorola DROID 2, with Froyo and Flash 10.1 and everything else to die for (not literally, mind you dudes). So it’s also come to the realization that the photo is legit, and the limited edition R2-D2 DROID 2 will be sold on September 30th, online from Verizon.
And by the way, this is the Droid you’re looking for.
