The Nexus S? Does it exist? According to the FCC, it does (and to leaked spy shots) and now it has new Bluetooth / WiFi and GPS antennas. Contrary to the belief that the Sexy Nexy S was delayed due to a dual-core processor seems wrong due to this new filing for the Samsung GT-i9020T (a.k.a Nexus S). Now all we need is a release date for — soon. Via: FCC, Eng

Nexus One hardware costs $174.15 to build, multitouch included
by Stefan Etienne on 09. Jan, 2010 4:03PM in Google, Hardware, Mobile

Way to go Google. Or sort of. According to iSuppli, the Nexus One costs $174.15 to build. The 2 -year contract makes the Nexus One price ring up to $179.99, and the unsubsidized? $529.99. Which makes me wonder: why the heck does the unsubsidized model costs so much? Not giving money every month to a carrier might be why, but come on? To break it all down, here’s exactly what Google spends money on to make each Nexus One:
- 1GHz Snapdragon ($30.50)
- AMOLED display ($23.50)
- Memory ($20.40) from Samsung
- Bluetooth and 802.11n WiFi transceiver costs $8.20
- $12.50 on a 5 megapixel camera
- Interestingly, Google has spent $17.50 on what’s described as “capacitive multitouch touchscreen assembly” from Synaptics.
So basically every person who buys a Nexus One pays for multitouch, but doesn’t get it? Google, I want my multitouch now.
People pay for it Google. Loosen up already.

Nexus One rooted before it’s even announced?
by Stefan Etienne on 30. Dec, 2009 7:33PM in Android, Google, Mobile
Nexus One and Google have been: Pwned.
We don’t know if it’s true, but the Nexus one seems to have been rooted by some guys at the Modaco forums according to admin Paul. It’s hard to believe, but the picture on the right which came from a forum member seems to be all the confirmation needed. Instructions for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X users is at the second source link. Now how about you hackers hack the Nexus One to have multitouch? Deal?

Nexus One pricing leaks: $530 unsubsidized and $190 with T-Mobile
by Stefan Etienne on 29. Dec, 2009 10:09PM in Android, Google, HTC, Leaks, Mobile

Thanks to some great work by the guys at Giz the Nexus One pricing is official. $530 unsubsidized and $179.99 with a contract on T-Mobile. If you do happen to cancel your contract 120 days after purchase, you’ll have to pay Google the rest of the money — $350 or you can send the phone back to Google. Here are some extra interesting details by the guys at Gizmodo after the jump.
Nexus One car dock being tested at the FCC, Nexus One trade name is “Google Phone”
by Stefan Etienne on 29. Dec, 2009 11:30AM in Google, Hardware

This is the most “almost official” use of a name we’ve heard yet for the Nexus One. While yesterday we saw a wireframe of the Nexus One Bluetooth dock, today we’re finding that the car dock is being put through its paces at the FCC, and is listed with the trade name of “Google Phone”. What makes this find even more plausible is that the form was made by HTC employees, and the “Google Phone” is the called the “Nexus One” in other parts of the document. And since this is the goverment, the employees who filled out the form must be referring to the product we want released — the Nexus One, with the trade name “Google Phone”. Nexus One dock appears from the FCC
by Stefan Etienne on 28. Dec, 2009 8:54AM in Android, Hardware

Maybe the Nexus One will go as the most-leaked smartphone of all time. I don’t know if it will be, or if it is, but I’ll stop right there. Because we’ve got another Nexus One leak for you, courtesy of the leaking-happy FCC. The Nexus One dock includes Bluetooth, but the N1 itself already has Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR, so there probably is another motive here. The model number is CR B410, and besides the figure above, and knowledge of it having Bluetooth 2.1, we’re pretty much in the dark.
