Blackberry Bold 9800 Seen With Webkit Browser On iPad Site

Oh, hai Blackberry! Seeing leaked pics of the Bold 9800 “slider” is nothing new; seeing its Webkit-based Acid3 Test 100/100 browser is a different story all together. So that’s probably why CellularGuru got a hold of this leaked pic, which clearly shows the browser with tabs open. It’s looking great (it hurts to say that about an ugly Blackberry Slider), now how about a release RIM?

RIM outs Blackberry 6 video

While the WES 2010 conference is still going on, RIM has taken the event to its top and unveiled Blackberry 6, and posted video of it on YouTube for the masses to convey their goggle eyes on. But for you guys, since you’re here, are going to find that video, at the end of this post.

BlackBerry OS 6 coming in Q3 2010

In the midst of new BlackBerries and gadgets flying around like unicorns, RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis has announced at WES 2010 that the new Blackberry operating system, named BlackBerry 6, will make a debut this third quarter of 2010. There isn’t a single image or video demoing the new OS, but there is the good word of Mike, and of course the confirmed features that will be included in the new OS: a new Webkit-based browser, but also stated that current OS 5.0 devices are not all going to be upgradeable, but they’ll “do [their] best”. Bring it on Research In Motion!

Blackberry 9650: An Updated Tour, And That’s A Good Thing

The Blackberry Tour just got the boot by its new cousin (or brother, sister, or whatever. Phones don’t have family!). Starting off with extra RAM for a total of 512MB, and is a CDMA EV-DO world phone with support for HSPA and UTMS (2100 MHz) networks, Wi-Fi b/g, optical trackpad (that’s new), GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, the same 4.4” x 2.4” x .56” and 4.8 oz. footprint, microSDHC card support up to 32 GB, a 1400 mAhr battery, and the oldie BlackBerry OS 5 (hopefully an update to 6.0 is in the works). The 9650 also has CDMA and GSM technologies, so it’s a global phone, (as said before) something not unusual to Blackberries, and their only real purpose left as the competition rises. It’ll be in the U.S. in May, on CDMA-based carriers, meaning Sprint and Verizon. My take on this little guy is that I may have considered it over a Bold 9700, but at this point I’ll never consider a Blackberry if it doesn’t pack in OS 6.0. Get workin’ on it RIM! PR is in its usual place, meaning that you know where it is.

Blackberry OS 6.0 screenshots and details hit the webs

If this week hasn’t been a great week for leaks, then there never will be. If you’re a Blackberry fan, get ready to enjoy every last bit of this report, and then head over to Boy Genius’ fortress for the whole run-down of screenshots. Since RIM has been very quiet lately, according to Boy Genius, an “AT&T connect” showed them what’s new in OS 6.0. Starting with:

  • There’s a new web browser that’s entirely Webkit-based, and includes tabs and multitouch.
  • A new, completely re-thought and redesigned media player.
  • “Kinetic Scrolling” that feeling where you remove your finger while scrolling and it continues for a while; it’s system wide in the new OS.
  • The homescreen now has several customizable pages, like Android, but no widgets so far.
  • BG mentions that the new OS was demoed on an AT&T “touchscreen device”, leaving possibility that it’s the Blackberry slider, or something.

RIM’s Twitter for Blackberry Beta app launches tonight

So, Blackberry folk, what have say you of iPhone OS 4.0? Fear? Perfect, that’s exactly how you should feel. On the other hand, the nice side of this little gadget blogger is appearing again, so I’ll be nice to you RIM fans.

Starting at 6PM Pacific/9PM Eastern, RIM will begin rolling out its official Twitter app for Blackberry (still in beta). Even though it’s probably not on the same rank as UberTwitter, this is the closest “Blackberry-like” app you can find, or at least will find, in the Test Center inside of Blackberry App World. Oh, and you can find it at the Blackberry Beta Zone, too.

Blackberry OS 6.0 screens leaked? Well, let’s see here….

I’m calling “fake” on these screens of a purportedly leaked Blackberry OS 6.0, but who really knows? So far if this proves to be the real deal then we know that RIM has gone widget crazy. More widgets than even Android 2.1, and that’s a statement. That’s overkill RIM, but at least you’ve brought your OS to 2010 instead of 2005. Still who knows? Maybe these shots are from a Photoshop diploma-worthy student meant to trick the tech blogs, or some real goods delivered by what BBLeaks calls it: “highly regarded as real from one of our best connects.”

More Blackberry Slider pics? You bet!

Today, we’ve found new Blackberry Slider pics. Last time when the Slider was compared to an 8900 we didn’t get to really see who was fatter/thinner, but it seems like according to the profile shots, the Slider sucker is thicker than the 8900. On another note, we definitely know it’s not the Storm3. Throw that out. What we do know is that rumors have been flying around stating that it looks exactly like a Bold 9700, and a UAProf found on RIM’s website lists that a certain 9700a has a portrait HVGA+ display (opposed to the 9700’s landscape HVGA+ display). While this may all seems plausible, we’re dealing with prototypes here. So we’ll have to wait like one of my old friends (now an enemy) and twiddle our thumbs for a bit longer.
