Here are two Droid Pro lookalikes: the Motorola XPRT and Titanium, both for Sprint. The XPRT uses Android 2.2 (Froyo) with MOTOBLUR, 3.1-inch touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera, a full QWERTY keyboard with BlackBerry-style buttons, with a 1GHz processor and Adobe Flash 10 support. On the flipside, the Motorola Titanium is Sprint’s successor to the older Motorola i1, and it will be a military-grade ruggedized smartphone using Android 2.1 (Eclair, are you serious?!), QWERTY keypad, again a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera, Push to Talk support with dust, shock, vibration, low pressure, solar radiation, high temperature and low temperature resistance. The new Sprint phones will be launched soon: XPRT will be launched in June 5th for $129.99 on contract basis; details for the Titanium are not available yet.

Good News: Now 83% Of Androids Run Version 2.1 Or Higher
by Stefan Etienne on 02. Dec, 2010 11:15AM in Android, Did You Know?, Google

It turns out fragmentation is on the decline in Android, according to Google’s latest report, now with 83% of devices that have accessed the Market “recently” have Android 2.1 or above. Android 1.6 on the other hand is still a stubborn mule; it still has a small share, as well as 1.5. This is good news for Android, no doubt, but when the Gingerbread comes in time for Christmas, everything will go back to loopy-town. Via: Android Developers
U.S Cellular Has Another Android: The LG Apex
by Stefan Etienne on 17. Nov, 2010 10:06AM in Android, LG, Mobile
So this is relatively interesting, as it’s the regional carrier’s fourth Android smartphone. The LG Apex has a 3.2-inch screen, a slide-out QWERTY with Android 2.1, and is $79.99 after an $80 mail-in rebate and will be available Nov. 19 at only U.S Cellular. Then again, Android 2.1 is getting rather dated, isn’t it? Press release after the jump!
Meh: Motorola Citrus Launching Tomorrow For $50 on Verizon
by Stefan Etienne on 10. Nov, 2010 4:42PM in Android, Mobile, Motorola, Verizon
The Motorola Citrus is just “another Android phone”. In the case of the DROIDs and Galaxy S, these mid-range handsets are the weeds in the world of proper smartphones and Android. The Citrus uses Android 2.1 with a 3.0-inch QVGA display, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, 3 megapixel digital camera, EV-DO Rev. 0, SWYPE keyboard, and the MOTOBLUR UI. The “meh” device will be available on Big Red starting tomorrow for $49.99 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.
That means if you like 1GHz beasts with 3.7 to 4.3-inch screens, then stay away. Very far away. Via: Verizon

Samsung Epic 4G Review
by Stefan Etienne on 08. Nov, 2010 10:47AM in Android, Mobile, Reviews, Samsung, Sprint

As the top tier “superphone” of the Galaxy S line, the Epic 4G has plenty to live up to, in terms of its name. Yes, it does use “4G’ from WiMAX, and has a front-facing camera coupled with a solid but flat QWERTY slide-out keyboard. Other than being an epic Android smartphone running the Android 2.1 version of the OS with Touchwiz 3.0 icing, the Epic 4G also has a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a fabulous 5 megapixel camera with HD 720p recording, and lastly half-day battery life. Not on one occasion has the Epic 4G review unit lasted me a full day of rigorous testing, but that shouldn’t take a lot from the experience, right?
Right, I’ll talk about that later.
Samsung Epic 4G Unboxing And Hands-On
by Stefan Etienne on 04. Nov, 2010 4:37PM in Android, Mobile, Samsung, Sprint

This upcoming unboxing is the last of the day and is the Samsung Epic 4G, the top-tier model of the Galaxy S line. What makes the Epic 4G so much better than its Galaxy S siblings is Sprint 4G (still rolling out to most of the U.S, I know), a front-facing camera, and a slide-out QWERTY. The 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, and 5 megapixel primary camera with 720p HD recording are still here, specs shared by the entire line of phones. As usual, the gallery is below and unboxing after the chop (see what I did there?). And yes, this is another review to write. I can keep up.
