First the Motorola Xoom, second the T-Mobile G-Slate with LG. 1 GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 8.9-inch display, 32GB of internal storage, gyroscope and accelerometer, stereoscopic rear-facing video cameras capable of full 1080p 3D capture, one of which is a 5 megapixel still camera with LED flash, a third 2 megapixel camera up front for video chat, and glasses required for viewing said 3D content. T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network or WiFi are your choices on the G-Slate for getting connected. You can also port 1080p video over HDMI to any external display that supports 1080p. The G-Slate will launch sometimes in March. Presser after the jump!

Bummer: Motorola ATRIX 4G Won’t Do 1080p At Launch, Will Need Update
by Stefan Etienne on 28. Jan, 2011 8:21AM in Android, AT&T, Mobile, Motorola, WTF
Uhh, unexpected? The Motorola ATRIX 4G, a handset so undeniably cool on AT&T that has yet to be released, that it can’t support 1080p HD video recording or content using the Tegra 2 processor — at launch. Hopefully soon thereafter, the promised update will appear. Keep in mind without 1080p, the Atrix would still have 720p, its slick speeds, awesome dock which is a laptop, and the name — Atrix 4G sounds a little like pwnage, no? Via: Motorola
New Rumor: iPad 2 will have a 2048×1536 resolution screen, same footprint
by Stefan Etienne on 16. Jan, 2011 10:48AM in Apple, Rumors, Tablets

A few acknowledgements of different screen resolutions were seen in the latest version of iBooks. The evidence is through the different images meant for different screens used by the iPhones and iPad. Apparently, a background in iBooks supports the 2048×1536 resolution, and such a high-resolution would not only mean possible Retina display branding (higher price anyone?) on the iPad 2, but moving away from the 1024×768 resolution (and thus support of 1080p HD content with the new screen) that few new devices use. Here’s to hoping, along with a grain of salt for this rumor. Via: CG
Nikon Coolpix S8100 Review: What An Awesome Little Camera
by Stefan Etienne on 16. Dec, 2010 12:29PM in Cameras, Nikon, Reviews

Any DSLR (or Micro Four Thirds) fanatic would know that an ordinary P&S (point-and-shoot) camera has nothing on them. But now, a P&S camera can have a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and 1080p HD video recording, and everything changes. Enter the Nikon Coolpix S8100. Read on for the review!
Nikon Coolpix S8100 First Impressions
by Stefan Etienne on 08. Dec, 2010 1:00PM in Cameras, Nikon

So turns out this is a day for gadgets to come straight into the “office” and onto LaptopMemo for review. The S8100 is high-end point-and-shoot camera, similar to everyone’s favorite Canon Powershot S95. It has a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 10x digital zoom, 1080p HD video recording (with a slow motion 240FPS video mode), continuous normal shooting for 5 shots at 10fps, panorama and macro modes (both work great), ISO up to 3200, EXPEED C2 image processing tech, motion detection and image stabilization, HDMI and AV-out, and a 3-inch screen with a resolution of 921,000-dots (!).
One cool feature to note of is the Nikon Best Shot Selector (shortened “BSS”, funny!), which takes ten shots at once when the shutter button is pressed, then picks the sharpest and best image out of the bunch, and then saves it on the SD card (SDHC is also supported). I haven’t had much time to play with the S8100, but considering I’m heading out for a few hours and charging it via USB to an outlet, I’ll take it with me. The review will be posted just a couple of days before Christmas (or sooner). Hit past the cut for 2 more shots of the Coolpix S8100.
LG’s Tegra 2 Android king has 4-inch screen, 1080p video, dual-core
by Stefan Etienne on 16. Nov, 2010 8:13AM in Android, FTW, Leaks, LG, Mobile

This is the most awesome thing of the hour. Over at Engadget, the LG’s Tegra 2 Android flagship got leaked. Now let’s review the specs: a 4-inch screen, Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1080p video recording on an 8 megapixel shooter with front-facing, and finally, an untouched, nearly clean stock version of Android. Joy of joys. Via: Engadget
Stefan Etienne gets on your TV, starts talking tech (video!)
by Stefan Etienne on 17. Jul, 2010 3:10PM in Featured, FTW, Internet
Well, well, now that I finally have my hands-on the TV station’s media card, they kindly allowed me to upload the interview on the telly to YouTube, where millions (or thousands can see it on LaptopMemo’s channel). Here, in my first TV interview I talk techno-babble about the M11x, and the Nikon D5000 also appears; its 2-pound wrath breaking my neck. Just for FYI: the interview was shot by my awesome Dad, in Central Park (TV station agreed to him shooting it).
So sit back, and watch with a extra-small bag of popcorn. Now hopefully you guys can crank it up to 1080p!
Canon Rebel T2i: 18 Megapixel Stills, 1080p Video, Costs $899
by Stefan Etienne on 08. Feb, 2010 10:00AM in Breaking, Cameras

The oh-so-wonderful Canon Rebel T2i is the perfect DSLR for anyone who can’t buy the perfect DSLR. For $899 you’d get an 18.7 megapixel senor (18.7 MP!) at 3.7 fps, the 7D’s style of light metering and better ISO range; 100 to 6400. Even more amazing is the 30 / 25 / 24 fps 1080p HD video shooting, as well as 720p (also HD) at 50 / 60 fps and VGA at similar speeds. This camera can also do a “movie crop”, where you would get 7x more zoom by cropping on the CMOS sensor without losing quality in the SD card. Translation: This is the best entry-level DSLR camera you can get, on paper. The T2i will come out in March for $800 (body only), or with a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens kit which would set you back at about $900. PR after the break!
