BlackBerry Bold 9900 For T-Mobile Priced At $299 On August 31st — Yup, Crazy

It’s really great what RIM is trying here. Freshen up their Bold lie with you know, modern technology. The Bold 9900 is going to use a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 768MB RAM, 8GB of internal storage (only 188MB for apps), a 2.8-inch touchscreen with 640x480 resolution, uses HSPA+ data speeds of up to 14MBps, the new BlackBerry 7 OS, and a 5 megapixel camera (no autofocus) with 720p HD video recording. So, technically they have some great specs, but miss in the storage and imaging areas (among a few other smaller things).

But now that almost every carrier is charging $249 for a Bold 9900/9930 makes it look pretty bad. And now T-Mobile is making it worse. To snatch a Bold 9900 on T-Mobile this August 31st, you’ll need to shed $299 on a 2-year agreement, with $50 mail-in rebate. Excuse me, T-Mobile, but that’s just not very intelligent (for lack of a better word) of you. PR after the cut.

iOS 5 Has Been Jailbroken — Wait, What?!

It has only hit “Beta 1″ of its short life, but iOS 5 has been jailbroken by none other than the almighty Dev Team’s “MuscleNerd” on an iPod Touch. At the moment, the jailbreak is of the tethered variety, meaning that it must be connected to a computer to initialize the jailbreak, but that also means this version will never be released to the public. A full jailbreak is currently being worked on so it will launch in time for iOS 5′s release in the fall. Via: Twitter

LG Has Raised The Price Of Its G2X Because Of Inventory Constraints?!

T-Mobile may have just done the unthinkable (or at least to me) — changing the price of the LG G2X to $249.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, which is $50 more than the previous price of $200 due to “inventory constraints”. Now hopefully the price will be reversed right back to its original pricing after the inventory issue is resolved, but T-Mobile hasn’t mentioned anything about that. Via: TmoNews

Sony PlayStation Network Downtime Should Last Until A Damning May 31st

Geez. A Sony spokesperson told Bloomberg recently that they expect the PlayStation Network servers and services to go online May 31st, which would mean since PSN went down on April 20th, and that it would take them six weeks in total to figure out that they’ve been hacked, invite high-level digital security firms to help with figuring that out, fixing and updating servers, writing several blog posts about how they’re sorry, finally decide to move their servers to “a safer location”, then hitting the “On” switch.

Amazon Outs A Kindle For $114, But With Ads

This is — nuts? For a $25 discount, you will soon be able to purchase a Kindle 3 (WiFi-only version) with ads served by Visa, Olay and Buick, among others coming in the future. When the the e-reader is idle, a screensaver from one of the companies aforementioned would appear, or an advertisement bar at the bottom of the homescreen (no ads while reading, however). According to Amazon’s own Kindle director, Jay Marine, seems to think that “customers are going to love it.” Oh, really?

First of all, let’s hope this is not a trend. Secondly, only $25? $114 is still a lot to be asking for ads. So technically, you’d be paying for ads. Weird, eh? It releases May 3rd; pre-orders begin today.

This is something that came from one of my followers, as a pretty accurate security report. If you make a Google search of “shangtwitter” you’ll find the old version of Twitter in its entirety, along with many different users. Obviously, the first things that comes to mind is don’t bother entering your login information to this site, which is also SSL-secured. Also, I’d like Google to kill this off their AppSpot servers, immediately.

Apparently, AT&T Is Buying T-Mobile From Deutsche Telekom For $39 Billion

AT&T is buying T-Mobile. Oh noes? Depends. AT&T has agreed to buy T-Mobile from its parent company, Deutsche Telekom, for a beefy $39 billion. It’s a bold move, which also expands their “4G” network as well. This means there is also a GSM monopoly in the United States. And of course, as per government regulatory approval, the deal should be finalized within the next 12 months. Press release after the cut. Via: AT&T
