New Rumor: iPad 2 will have a 2048×1536 resolution screen, same footprint

image

A few acknowledgements of different screen resolutions were seen in the latest version of iBooks. The evidence is through the different images meant for different screens used by the iPhones and iPad. Apparently, a background in iBooks supports the 2048x1536 resolution, and such a high-resolution would not only mean possible Retina display branding (higher price anyone?) on the iPad 2, but moving away from the 1024x768 resolution (and thus support of 1080p HD content with the new screen) that few new devices use. Here’s to hoping, along with a grain of salt for this rumor. Via: CG

Verizon iPhone owners may have other advantage besides network — unlimited data

Like the entire Verizon iPhone rumor/saga of events, this may not be true, but nevertheless, it’s been discussed to a few people, and might have originated from the source. What the latest tale from the rumor mill states is that for a certain amount of time, iPhone users on VZW would be offered an unlimited data plan, thus further alienating AT&T’s data-caps and lower usability of its network (let’s face it, AT&T). The general LM reader will know when January 11th strikes, and if it’s for a Verizon iPhone at all.

Verizon Invites The Press To An Event On The 11th. What Does It Mean?

“Verizon haz iPhone, plz?”

I’m not sure, nor is anyone, including BG @ BGR, and just about every other publication anxiously waiting like men who lost their dogs. The iPhone on Verizon rumors have been trashed, brought back to life again, killed again, then brought back to life again, and practically given the title of “Ultimate Technology Rumor”. CES 2011 was a place for Verizon to announce tons of Android products, including Android 3.0 on the Motorola Xoom tablet, Droid Bionic, and a ton of other Android devices filled to the brim with Verizon marketing (and read: crapware).

An announcement such as this would utterly destroy these new products, but who knows? Maybe they’re going to unveil more devices, or shove 4G LTE straight up to our brains until we have seizers. Whatever it may be, the world will know, officially, on the 11th of January.

HTC Thunderbolt 4G specs seemed to have leaked in full glory

Remember the HTC Thunderbolt 4G for the new Verizon 4G LTE network? No? Well then, some new specs leaked out, so this post will be useful. According to a German retailer system, the phone will be on the O2, Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone networks in Europe, and will contain a 4.3-inch screen, 1.2 GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, Android 2.3 with Sense UI, 8 megapixel main cam with dual-LED flash with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, aGPS, 16GB of internal storage, micro-SD card slot (compatible up to a 128GB card), 1080p HD video recording on the back camera and a kickstand like the HD7, and a massive 1800mAh battery.

Damn, HTC, this looks quite good. Now if these specs are true and not full of salt, then I’m totally interested in one, and probably you are too.

HTC Likes Being First, Wants To Be “First To 4G” Again. Probably 4G LTE.

First!

Yeah, HTC likes being first it seems. The HTC EVO 4G was advertised as the “first 4G phone ever”, then the T-Mobile G2 as the “first to 4G on T-Mobile”, and now it seems HTC wants to be the “first to 4G, again” with their upcoming 4G LTE Verizon Wireless handset due to be announced on the 6th of January it seems, as according to a graphic a forum-goer stumbled upon on HTC’s mobile site, seen at the source link.

Microsoft To Release Army Of Slates With iPad In Sights

With CES 2011 just around the corner, Microsoft might just be in the business of countering the iPad’s nearly unfailing goal of staying at the top. To make this report short, let me explain quickly what’s going on here: Microsoft may demo Windows 7 or Windows 8 on these tablets, which would be manufactured by Samsung, Dell, and others.

One particular model (the Samsung Gloria?) would have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, possibly turning it into a consumer-oriented productivity tablet, or just plain old business. Microsoft is also focusing on apps, as an app market would be present and based on the web. Either way, this upcoming CES will be full of surprises (and maybe that M13x I’ve been dreaming of from Alienware). Via: Bits NYT

Motorola MOTOPAD Seen Again, This Time With Mr. BlurryCam?

When Andy Rubin dropped the bomb on Android 3.0 Honeycomb with a Motorola MOTOPAD prototype, some lucky dude on the other side of the planet (read: Taiwan) had a glimpse at the MOTOPAD in action — and took this blurry shot for the Internet to see. Specs mentioned were an Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 dual-core chip, gyroscope, 5 megapixel main camera, 2 megapixel front-facing, 7-inch and 10-inch versions with 1280x800 resolution (the one seen above), UMTS/CDMA/LTE connectivity, and lastly 32GB embedded MMC and the Android-lovers microSD slot.

Now we’ll have to see and wait to figure out that this guy wasn’t drinking any Four Loko (can you get Four Loko in Taiwan?), and that he has some legit data. Via: Eng, Mobile01
