HP Touchpad: The First webOS Tablet Comes Out This Summer

It’s here. The HP Touchpad weighs 1.5 pounds, is 13mm thick, has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1, 16GB or 32GB of storage, twice the RAM of the Pre 2, a new 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 9.7-inch screen with 1024x768 resolution, webOS 3.0, gyro, compass, and accelerometer sensors, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat, a virtual keyboard, Beats audio, and a tablet-optimized UI of webOS, with all of the bells and whistles webOS is known for (like Flash 10.1 beta support coming soon), as well as the new Touchstone for wireless charging, which interacts with other webOS devices, like taking a call on the Touchpad while having a Pre 3 and tapping the other device to share site links and such.

Time Inc. will also provide subscription magazines on the Touchpad, of which include Sports Illustrated, TimeFortune and People. It will launch sometimes this summer, which makes for an incredibly long wait for such an awesome looking tablet, on paper.

HP Veer, Pre 2, And Pre 3 Announced, All Look The Same

The Palm Pre 2 is headed to Verizon tomorrow, but now there’s the HP Veer — a tiny version of the Pre 2. As if it could get any smaller, the Veer uses a Snapdragon 7230 processor, 2.6-inch screen, webOS 2.2, has HSPA+, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, 8GB of storage, comes out in Spring, and has the same amount of RAM as the Pre 2.

Next up is the Pre 3, with a 3.6-inch WVGA screen, hardware keyboard (like the Pre 2), a 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor, webOS 2.2, comes out in Summer, has EVDO and HSPA+ radios (making it a world phone), 5 megapixel back-facing camera with 720p HD video recording, 802.11 n/b/g Wi-Fi, same amount of RAM as Pre 2, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 8GB or 16GB of storage, all the sensors seen in modern smartphones, and new Touchstone technology, which interacts with other webOS devices, like taking a call on the Touchpad, for instance.

Press releases after the cut.

HP webOS ‘Topaz’ Finds Itself Leaked Out Again, Along With Plenty Of Details

Ready for a tablet that looks as promising as an iPad 2 and Motorola Xoom? Enter, the HP webOS tablet, codenamed “Topaz”. In a leak of fury by PreCentral, the specs of a rendered version of the Topaz are displayed. Major specs to make note of are the 9.7-inch 1024 x 768-pixel oil and scratch-resistant display, 1.2GHz processor with Adreno 220 graphics processor, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth (3G and 4G versions introduced sometime after launch), a front-facing camera, built-in Beats audio, and to ensure it lasts quite a while on a single charge, two 3,150 mAh batteries with 8 hours of usage, along with Touchstone v2 technology for wireless charging.

While it clearly looks like a (insert obvious name of tablet here), there’s much to welcome from the Topaz. Seen at the first source link is the leaked Topaz webOS tablet, then second is the UI elements, including a fantastic-looking on-screen keyboard. Via: PreCentral (1), (2)

HP Holding webOS Event On February 9th, May Kill Terrible Palm Hardware

It seems that HP as plans for webOs — good ones — and that a new press event booked for the 9th of February may reveal a new smartphone, webOS “PalmPad” tablets, and more/less. Seems like HP nixed the Palm branding in the invite, but for webOS fans, this may be more than enough to bring one of the most polished mobile OSes that always had terrible hardware back on to the main circuit.

HP Palm Pre 2 GSM unlocked available for $450

If you have a SIM card and $450, along with some reason to infinitely love HP webOS 2.0 and the Palm Pre 2, then HP is selling an unlocked version of the handset for $450, starting today, and shipping in 24 hours. Oh, and as a refresher of the specs for you, here ya go: 1 GHz processor, 3.1-inch multi-touch display with 320 x 480 resolution (meh), Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, GPS, 16GB of on-board storage, and a 5 megapixel camera. Palm Pre 2 Docs Seen At Verizon, Don’t Mention Release At All

While the Palm Pre 2 is nothing amazing — same form factor with 1GHz processor, HP webOS 2.0, and an improved camera — Verizon does have Q4 2010 plans for it. Probably in time for the holiday season, the Palm Pre 2 will launch. And of course, I’ll try and convince my contact to let me review it (Palm didn’t quite like how I thought the Pre felt cheap. Right.) Via: IntoMobile

Palm Pre 2 pre-orders kick off on — November 8th

Damn. Another technology event on November 8th. We have Samsung’s, Windows Phone 7 launching in the U.S, and now HP stating that the Palm Pre 2 pre-orders start on November 8th via their Facebook page for students. I’ve just created a tag for the date alone.

HP for Students – US: Check out the new Palm Pre Plus 2, pre-orders begin 11/8

Honestly I have high hopes for the Pre 2 with HP webOS 2.0, although it’s inevitable that we’ll be disappointed in some areas. As of yet, it’s unknown if this is the Palm Pre 2 meant for devs as a GSM model, or the CDMA-glorified Verizon version.
