HP Mini 5103 and 210 netbooks get bumped up with dual-core Atoms

The ‘professional-aimed’ $399 Mini 5103 netbook (seen right) will be getting a dual-core 1.5GHz processor option that will offer a 20% boostin power, without any shortcomings on battery life. The system also will offer the HP Day Starter OS, but no webOS yet *frowns*.

On the flipside, for the ordinary consumer, the HP Mini 210 has a new design, the same heavily-praised keyboard, a ton of very clever colors, a Broadcom Crystal Accelerator option for 1080p playback, and will retail for $330 with a single core Atom CPU and six-cell battery, but will have the optional upgrade to the faster N550 processor for a bit more greenbacks (probably $75).

Sony VAIO P: tons of colors, 8-inch screen, accelerometer, and touchpad

The Sony VAIO P has gotten quite an update to prove that it’s in the “ultraportable” market and not the tablet or dying “netbook” market. Despite being a netbook (really), the VAIO P packs in an 8-inch screen with 1600 x 768 res, accelerometer for browsing sites in different orientations, GPS, 3G, and a touchpad on either side of the LCD, which are both located on the bezel. A basic model comes with an Atom Z540 chip, Windows 7, 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM, a 64GB SSD, and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500. And to finish off Sony was kind enough to add 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, stereo speakers with mic, a Motion Eye camera, 2 USB ports, and a weight of 632 grams and purported 10 hour battery. And it’ll come in June for a  starter price of $799 in orange, green, pink, black, or white. A nice little update, if you ask me. PR is with the rest of the post, along with shots of all the colors.

Sony VAIO M leaked…..an entry-level netbook

While the Sony VAIO W was deemed to expensive to be a netbook for its size, the recently-leaked Sony VAIO M is purportedly set to replace the W. Moving straight onto specs there’s a 1024 x 600 10.1-inch screen, 1.66GHz Atom N450 CPU, Bluetooth on the basic model, 250GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Windows 7 Starter, b/g/n Wi-Fi, and all in a package that weighs only 2.86 pounds. It’s expected to sell below $500 Benjamins which would turn it into hotcakes, although there’s no official release date (or price for that matter). One more shot after the break for your fancy.

HP Compaq Airlife 100 is the Android Netbook You’ve Always Wanted

I wouldn’t buy it, but you would, wouldn’t you? The HP Compaq Airlife 100 is probably the most exciting computer HP Compaq has ever created. With a keyboard, 10.1-inch touchscreen, runs Android  (looks like 1.6 Donut), 16GB SSD, Wi-Fi, a 3G connection which will be on the Telefónica network in Spain, an SD card slot, and a camera. It’s probably a top pick for iPad-haters. The only small problem is that it only is going to be in HP Spain for now, but when (and if) if comes to the US, you’ll probably see the Mini branding, which isn’t a bad thing actually. Alienware M11x Goes Up for Pre-Order. Starts at $799

So here it goes. Everything said in the previous post on the M11x stands the same, for $799 you’ll get the Pentium SU4100 processor, for an extra $100 you’d get the far superior Core2Duo SU7300. Starting price includes 2GBof DDR3 RAm at 800Mhz, and for $350 you can get 8GB DDR3. As for the hard drive, it starts at a 160GB SATAII hard drive, and up to a 500GB SATAII (7200 RPM) for $150. It ships on March 1st.

So basically you’ll have to spend $1000 or more to actually get the gaming power that you need, which really wasn’t what came in mind when we heard it at CES. Nevertheless, it’s a good buy. [Dell]

Alienware M11x Pricing and Specs Get Detailed; Holds Some Surprises

Besides all of the media frenzy on Dell’s 11.6-inch gaming “netbook”, the Alienware M11x, which packs in a Nvidia 335M graphics chip, we have all pondered to know what is the release date, and secondly, we’ve wanted more details. Well probably this short slide has a couple of those answers. First and foremost, the M11x will ship with either a Pentium SU4100 or Core2Duo SU7300 processor, which further baffles competitors on how much power is actually in this thing. Afterwards, there’s evidence of it shipping on Feb. 5th, or sometimes after. Third, that $799 price point doesn’t seem to happy at this point, because according to the shot, the M11x starts at $899, probably with the Pentium chip. So there you go, hopefully more will leak out later. [Sina via Engadget]

Alienware’s M11x super netbook has a base price: $799

Back at CES when the M11x was announced, it was said it would have a price mark of “under $1000″. And the base price? $799. So let’s get this straight: 11.6-inch display, NVIDIA GT335M switchable graphics and a 6.5 hour battery, all only for $799? And some people daresay call it the hideous name “netbook”?

The Alienware M11x, with over 6.5 hours of battery life and weighing under 4.5 lbs. will start at an amazing $799! Leave it to the folks at Alienware to enable truly mobile performance gaming at an affordable price.

Also, it’s an interesting place where this was found, because you’ll have to visit the microsite, then check the page source, and only then will you see the magical $800 price mark. What’s not to like here? Oh, and take that, iPad.
