GoDaddy Is Officially Removed From The SOPA Supporters List

GoDaddy. A hypocritical company hell bent on always making money, despite what the means are. Unfortunately, they’re my current hosting and domain hosting provider (something that will change), but in the meantime, they have officially been removed from the SOPA supporter’s list, as part of their PR campaign to save face. Nice try, clowns. Via: TC

Introducing Rage Faces For Facebook Chat — A Trollface Keeps The Doc Away

I don’t know who in their right mind would do something, so, so, so — awesomesauce. You see, it has been the dream of a fantastic troll, such as myself, to be able to express my feelings via a “trollface” or a “MeGusta” face. Thanks to some first-class geeks , my dream is now a reality. The applications of these codes are ingenious — in fact if you possessed the right username and codes, you could shrink just about any image (including your profile pic) and throw them into the Facebook Chat box. The codes for the faces are as follows:

Poker face [[129627277060203]]
Forever Alone [[227644903931785]]
OK guy [[100002752520227]]
Me Gusta [[164413893600463]]
Lol guy [[189637151067601]]
F**k Yeah [[105387672833401]]
Problem? [[171108522930776]]
[[218595638164996]]

Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Mozilla Firefox 9 released with Javascript improvements and OS X Lion scrolling

In the latest iteration of one of the best browsers out there (besides Chrome, which I personally think is a better, faster browser), Mozilla’s Firefox 9 adds increased Javascript speeds and rendering by at least 30%, as well as scrolling for OS X Lion users. As usual, there are bug fixes and improvements in other sectors of the app as well, with all of the release notes and available at the source links, including a download link for the new Firefox 9.

Once Again, Google Extends Their Free VoIP Calling In Gmail

It seems that almost every year now, when the free VoIP service in Google’s Gmail app ends for the desktops, they just renew it for another year. See this old LM post for an example. And of course the usual requirements are the same: a microphone (if not already built-in your laptop), an internet connection and that’s all (adding a Google Voice number is optional, but I recommend it).

Twitter Updates Their Web, iOS, And Android Apps

This is quite a nice set of tweaks from Twitter. First they’ve gotten some important things straight on their web client, iOS app, and as well as their Android app. Twitter is now defined via four new categories: “Home”, “Connect, “Discover”, and “Me”, each doing exactly what you expect of them to make the service so much easier and faster to use. The web version will be updated in the next few weeks for every Twitter user, however the iOS and Android versions are already updated and ready for download on their respective app stores. Check  out the video below and the source link for some of Twitter’s input on the new design. Via: Twitter Blog

Google Now Has A Graphing Calculator

This is just awesome. Now I know what I’m playing with for the next 15 minutes — a graphing calculator from Google. Just enter your values and explore the way you would in Google Maps. Easy as a Google Graph.

Adobe Flash For Mobile Devices: It’s Dead

It is dead. Adobe has officially abandoned Flash for mobile devices, including Android. According to Adobe, they are going to “aggressively contribute” to HTML5, a platform with much broader support and more capabilities than Flash (in any version) was ever able to deliver, anywhere. As for AIR, they will continue to work on that for mobile devices as well. So I guess HTML 5 is winning this battle, eh? However, it has not yet won the war.

Gmail redesign now available to all users

It’s now a fact — the Gmail redesign for all users is ow available. While it was previewed earlier this year, this incarnation is a full redesign.  New features include: dynamic window resizing, a new button for tweaking display density, several new high definition themes, and profile pictures. There’s email threads that have been tweaked into a more conversational view — really looking like a chat window. There’s also bug fixes, and so on. Check out the redesign, as well as the video after the break. (more…)
