Dell Venue Pro Listed On Pre-Order Page, I Can Confirm It Comes Out On The 8th

After speaking to my contacts at Dell I can independently confirm that the Dell Venue Pro, the sexiest upwards QWERTY slider in the history of smartphones yet in my humble opinion, is coming to T-Mobile on the 8th of November, much like the Samsung Focus on AT&T. The pricing isn’t official yet, but I can peg it at $199.99 on a usual 2-year contract with T-Mobile. Expansys is listing it also for a November 8th release for 499.99 British Pounds.

The new XPS line of laptops, have primarily Core i5 processors, 460M processors, Nvidia GeForce 420M graphics cards, 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard drives, which is the basic package. You can beef up the price to get Blu-Ray drives, Core i7 and such. Each lappy has a 720p HD recording webcam (zing!), USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, JBL speakers, and HDMI 1.4.

The 14-incher weighs 5.35 pounds (2.4kg), and the 17-incher is 7.57 (3.4kg). The XPS 14 is $899, the 15-inch$849 and 17-inch $949. Not bad, Dell. Via: Dell

Alienware M11x R2 Unboxing (video!)

What makes the Alienware M11x have the naming scheme “R2″ next to it? It stands for Revision 2, because it includes the new Nvidia Optimus graphics switching tech based on the same discrete GeForce 335m graphics setup with Intel HD graphics. This particular unit also has a Core i7 ULV CPU running at 1.20 GHz, and can be overclocked via the BIOS to a freakish 2.26 GHz while still staying moderately warm, but not hot. The screen is the same 11.6 WLED with 1336x768 resolution, and this particular unit (again) has a matte black finish with a rubber feel The unboxing is above, available in glorious HD.

The full review comes next week, along with more unboxings and surprises.

Studio XPS 14, 15, and 17 are some of the coolest looking Dells yet

Like, just look at it. Look at it! These are the new Studio XPS laptops which should be launching in the U.S soon, and they look great. They’ll contain very pretty and reliable shells from anodized aluminum and brushed aluminum palm rests, NVIDIA Optimus switchable graphic that go up to the mighty Nvidia GeForce GTS 445M on the Studio 17, options for Blu-ray drives, 16GB of RAM, and some Core i7 CPUs. No pricing as of yet, but when the pages from Dell are live I’ll be sure to update this.

Dell Streak on AT&T review

The Dell Streak — early name the Dell Mini 5 — has had its release with a ton of press coverage. One reason being that it was Dell’s first go at an Android tablet. Two, for the sake of it, it is an actually good looking Android tablet. A 5-inch WVGA screen with Gorilla Glass, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera on the back with a VGA front-facing, Wi-Fi/3G HSPA+/Bluetooth combo, a user-replaceable battery, along with a 16GB microSD card in our review unit which we tortured with tests for over the course of a week.

So how did the 5-inch Dell Streak Android 1.6 tablet fare?

The Dell Streak Goes Downtown — In A Teardown

So the Dell Streak has gone to meet its demise. Its transformation to the dark side of technology. To a site called iFixit, where they do anything but “fix” things on a daily basis.

Cut the drama short, and the Dell Streak was dismantled to every last bit. The team at iFixit declared that the Streak truly has a 1GHz Snapdragon, a 5 megapixel camera that “closely resembles” the iPhone 4’s, Gorilla Glass, and a 2 GB non-user accessible micro-SD card. On a sort of interesting scale of 1 to 10, 8 is the rating given to the Streak. This meaning that on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the easiest), the Streak is an 8 to dismantle for a ‘regular’ user.

Check out the carnage at the source link, and don’t forget to check out our unboxing of the Streak, and wait for the review!

Dell Streak unboxing!

So the Dell Streak arrived in the LaptopMemo office today, a week late.

At least it’s finally here, and so far I have this to say about it: it’ll struggle to find its place, much like Apple’s iPad, but it’s still a winner. So far the 1GHz Snapdragon never has given me a single pout, freeze, or whatever you’d want to call “lag”. The front-facing camera is VGA quality, but it’s still a front-facing camera (hey iPad!), the 5 megapixel on the back could’ve been better, and Android 1.6 doesn’t allow all the features of 2.2 (duh!), but there’s still great multitouch in the browser (it’s freaky fast), Google Maps Navigation, and the Android 1.6 version of Android Market.

The custom Dell UI is actually one of the few pleasant custom skins I’ve seen on Android, besides HTC’s Sense. Expect the review to come up later this week, complete with video and the full review.

For now, check out the unboxing pics, after the cut!
