BlackBerry PlayBook Teared Down By iFixit, As Usual
The newest trend in technology journalism — write a post about how iFixit took apart the latest gadget. OK!
So they did. And everything RIM says is in the PlayBook actually is there. iFixit also mentioned that for the average user, taking apart a PlayBook is rated a 7 out of 10 (10 being the easiest, 1 the hardest) and that the front panel of glass is not fused to the rest of the tablet, so a shattered screen could be easily replaced without much annoyance and/or money. So, here it is. A rival tablet produced by RIM, creators of the BlackBerry. The 16GB of storage model with WiFi costs $500, exactly the same configuration and price as the iPad 2. Keep in mind the BlackBerry PlayBook has what some may call “unfinished software” and no native email or calendar apps (which supposedly should be added in a software update). This (above) is codenamed the BlackBerry Dakota. It is the best phone RIM will have, that just depends on what RIM thinks is good. Major specs to make note of are a 5 megapixel cam with HD video recording, QWERTY, BlackBerry OS 6.1, a 2.8-inch screen with 640 x 480 resolution, 4GB of internal storage, 768MB of RAM (that’s nice), hotspot capability, and is 10.5mm thin.
