New Rumor: some new Nikon DSLRs inbound

New Nikon DSLRs, a thought so wonderful it makes me leap for joy. It’s a rumor actually, complete with specs, and a rumor complete with specs is the most exciting thing to have rumors about. Moving on!

The first should be an entry-level DSLR, perhaps a successor the D3000, with better AF, more megapixels, and updating the other important bits. The second is more exciting, supposedly a 16-megapixel, 39-AF point, 1080p/24-shooting super DSLR. it’s likely to be a successor of the heavily-favored D90. The third, we know nothing of, it’s simply speculated that a third new one exists. There’s more to check out at Nikon Rumors, so head over there!

And I’m still waiting for the gadget fairy to bring me my D5000 from Nikon’s review warehouse. How long will that take? Sigh.

iPhone 4 Aluminum Unibody Casing Spotted?

iClarified has posted several images from an anonymous tipster, claiming that the unibody aluminum back casing is for the upcoming iPhone, due in June. First and foremost, there are some doubts here: One, it’s all metal. With the already god-awful iPhone AT&T reception (insert joke here), an all metal casing would only make it worse, unless Apple has figured out how to bypass this flaw, as with the iPad, where the antenna is concealed beneath the Apple logo, except even the iPad has wireless issues of its own. Two, the text and logo are ever-so-slightly in the wrong places. But hey, at least Mr. BlurryCam can keep us busy, right? If the EVO 4G, Nexus One, and Droid Incredible have new forms of design, than the iPhone has to shake! Btw, does this remind you of a certain unibody Legend? More photos after the cut.

The Icelandic Volcano Fiasco As Seen From Space

Recently the sleepy Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland finally woke up (or in better words, erupted) as of yesterday. The outcome? Plane flights delayed throughout all of Northern Europe, causing extreme havoc for those who travel. Plumes of smoke rise up to 36,000 feet from this all-to-happy volcano. The shot was taken by NASA’s MODIS Rapid Response System, which provides satellite imagery of Earth’s surface in real time. Cool stuff.

HTC Droid Incredible officially announced for Verizon on April 29th for $200

Finally, the Incredible has been officially announced at The 99 Percent Conference by HTC. As revealed before, the naming scheme really is the HTC DROID Incredible, and is headed to Verizon on April 29th, with pre-orders starting on the 19th. The official specs outed by HTC are Android 2.1 with the new Sense UI, 1Ghz Snapdragon, 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, a 3.7-inch WVGA (800×480) AMOLED multitouch screen, optical joystick, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi,  3.5mm headset jack, and is $199 on contract with $100 mail-in rebate; with talk plans start at $39.99 and data plans are starting at an extra $29.99. Full press release after the break. Anyone excited right now?

[Thanks! HTC 99]

Could The HTC DROID Incredible Be Verizon’s Nexus One?

It’s become very clear that the DROID Incredible is a superphone that rivals or nearly trumps the Nexus One in every aspect. The Nexus One has a 5 megapixel camera; the Droid Incredible has 8 megapixels, the Nexus One uses Android 2.1 with Google Experience, and the Incredible uses Sense UI, which is arguably the better UI out of the two. So then why in the world would Google want to have a Nexus One on Verizon, when you could get a phone with the Droid branding (which is no doubt very interesting)? My guess is that there are drawbacks to Verizon’s Incredible, possibly in the price sector. With rumors of the unsubsidized model being $599.99 while the Nexus One’s retail price is $529.99 off-contract, there will probably be a price difference in on-contract models, in the end only directing users to the Motorola Droid once again. Read on for the rest!

Verizon throws out the HTC Incredible waiting page!

Here it is, here it is! The Droid Incredible is coming out on April 29th, and looks needless to say incredible. For those of you who might be wondering, the HTC Incredible site (not the waiting page) will resemble the Motorola Droid’s, and as I predicted with another editor from another blog (Giz), the HTC Incredible is borrowing the Droid branding. Anyone getting sudden shocks of Android madness in their chairs right now?

UPDATE: And now you’ll see that the page is asking for login credentials. Looks like either Verizon was giving all of us some bait to feed on, or it was a slip-up.

Apple Delays The International iPad Launch…Magically?

Magic. It’s a word Apple is over-using right now and a word we tech journalists use too much out in the field, and on our couches blogging for our respective media outlets. Anyways, on to the news: the international iPad launch is delayed till the end of May, like magic I suppose. Hope that brightens your day! In fact, a large chunk of this site’s traffic comes from foreign countries, mainly the UK (after the U.S that is), meaning that a lot of you are screaming your heads off right now.

According to the Big Apple, the main reason for the delay is that they “delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week” in the U.S, with pre-orders and store sales  being “far higher than we predicted”. So you’ll have to wait a bit longer for your iPad Europeans, like our friend, Chris Davies.

T-Mobile’s myTouch Slide coming in 3 different colors? Interesting…

Since the T-Mobile myTouch Slide is the successor to the G1, it means that not only there is extreme leakage on its specs and software (Android 2.1 with that leaked “Espresso” Sense UI, which is really glossy) but now, colors. When you cough up the cash to grab a myTouch Slide for an as-of-yet unknown price, you’ll have the option of Red with Black, Black, and White. Now the guys at CellPhoneSignal claim that the shot above is directly from T-Mobile’s press gallery (and we have no reason to think otherwise). So technically, that’s today’s dose of myTouch Slide news. You’re welcome.

An Exclusive: Why Core i5 Is Not In The New Macbook Pro 13-inch

With today’s announcement of the new Macbook Pro line, the 15-inch and 17-inch models now either sport new Core i5 or Core i7 processors, but the Macbook Pro 13-inch, which is in fact the most popular Mac sold by Apple is still sticking to a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo. You might be asking yourself, “Why”? After speaking to Tim Bajarin from Creative Strategies at Apple, we have the full scoop as to how it’s excluded from the new Macbook Pro, as well as how Apple engineers could actually do it in the future. Read on past the break!

Entire HTC Incredible spec sheet flies away from the arms of Verizon

It’s the most leaked of all leaked smartphones of this leaky year. The HTC Incredible gets its name simply because it really is incredible. It’s officially coming out on April 29th exclusively on Verizon Wireless’ 3G speeds. And once more for you dear readers, I’ll repeat the official specs:

  • Android 2.1 with the new Sense UI
  • 1Ghz Snapdragon processor (downclocked to 768Mhz)
  • 8 megapixel camera with dual-flash
  • 3.7″ WVGA (800×480) AMOLED screen
  • 8GB internal storage but with 512 ROM later on in the spec sheet, so it’s a little confusing.
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Flash Lite 4.0
  • All of the Google Experience apps (Gmail, Google Maps Navigation, Calendar, YouTube, Search, etc.)

Our friends at Boy Genius Report have the full spec sheet that’s longer than your arm, so head over there to feast your eyes on leaked Verizon documents, if that’s your thing (it has to be, right?).
