HTC Legend Spotted with Live Photos, And Metal Casing

Remember that leak I made not too long ago? I found out that the HTC Legend will be in all-metal casing. And look at what we have here! An anonymous tipster has handed over Engadget these photos (other one is embedded below) of the HTC Legend in silver. At least Mr.BlurryCam did a better job this time. And did you notice? it’s running Sense UI, but not the slightly refreshed version that let’s say the Incredible has. Afterwards there are no spec updates, just a giant HTC logo on the back. Check it out after the jump. [Engadget]

Canon Rebel T2i: 18 Megapixel Stills, 1080p Video, Costs $899

The oh-so-wonderful Canon Rebel T2i is the perfect DSLR for anyone who can’t buy the perfect DSLR. For $899 you’d get an 18.7 megapixel senor (18.7 MP!) at 3.7 fps, the 7D’s style of light metering and better ISO range; 100 to 6400. Even more amazing is the 30 / 25 / 24 fps 1080p HD video shooting, as well as 720p (also HD) at 50 / 60 fps and VGA at similar speeds. This camera can also do a “movie crop”, where you would get 7x more zoom by cropping on the CMOS sensor without losing quality in the SD card. Translation: This is the best entry-level DSLR camera you can get, on paper. The T2i will come out in March for $800 (body only), or with a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens kit which would set you back at about $900. PR after the break!

Details: Motorola Droid to Get Android 2.1, multitouch?

The boys over at Engadget seem to have their eyes on target for the Droid’s Android 2.1 OTA update. If you are a Droid owner who is envious of Nexus One owners (and their multitouch), be angry no more. According to one of Engadget’s “connects” (I’m saying the word “connects” now?) the version of Android that the DROID will receive is Android 2.1, version 1. Details:

  • Google Goggles will be pre-installed, no matter how much you love or hate it.
  • The browser will be multitouch-enabled just like Google Maps 3.4 (Woot!)
  • It will retain the same-old, same-old Android 2.0 homescreen; no live wallpapers (boo!), and no 3D apps menu.
  • The news and weather widgets from the Nexus One are included. Hmph.

Of course all of this could change, and this post could become as irrelevant as Android 1.5, so I suggest you talk this with a bag, not grain, of salt.

Hell Indeed Freezes Over: Google’s First Superbowl Ad

When Google CEO Eric Schmidt tweeted “Hell Freezes Over”, we expected something. Hell has indeed freezed over as Google’s first Superbowl ad was aired just minutes ago to over 90 million Americans (accompanied by beer, food, and whatnot).

The ad is titled Parisian Love, which is basically a love story, and pushes Google’s search engine technologies to the limit. It starts at “study abroad paris france”, then moves to “impress a french girl” and eventually goes all the way to “how to assemble a crib”; the ad shows how much Google can fit perfectly into people’s lives. I’ve embedded the video after the break.

HTC Incredible Pics Surface, With Incredible Brown Backplate

The HTC Incredible, a phone that was leaked out in December, has finally gotten it’s own pics from Mr. BlurryCam. So what’s incredible about the Incredible is the incredible backplate (no pun intended), which has an array of weird shapes and a camera, which has not one, but dual LED flashes. Also interesting but not incredible is the Verizon Wireless boot screen seen in the video after the break.

Rumored specs include Android 2.1, Sense UI, Snapdragon CPU, 256MB of RAM accompanies a roughly 3.5-3.7″ WVGA screen (very possibly AMOLED, but not confirmed), and an optical trackpad (much like the Bravo). You’ll see that backplate slide and some video after the break, so go ahead and check it out! [PocketNow]

The Making Of Google’s Nexus One Part 2: OLED displays & 3D

Part 2 of the Nexus One video series is up on YouTube. As a quick recap, these videos are created by Google to tell you how the Nexus One was developed. While in the first part they focused on sound and the concept, the second part focuses on the 3.7-inch AMOLED display and 3D interface. So grab yourself some popcorn (small is perfect) and watch the video after the break. [Via Google Nexus One YouTube Channel]

What Superbowl Ad Has Eric Schmidt On His Toes?

Well lookie here! Eric Schmidt, king of all Googlers has posted a tweet saying the following words which makes him seem extremely excited, crafty, hopeful, or all of the above:

Can’t wait to watch the Superbowl tomorrow. Be sure to watch the ads in the 3rd quarter (someone said “Hell has indeed frozen over.”)

Color me puzzled, I have no idea what he has up his sleeves. [Eric Schmidt]

Motorola MOTOSPLIT — It’s Splittin’ Brilliant (Sort Of)

Above is a render of the Motorola MOTOSPLIT found by the Android Community. It’s main feature is the keyboard, which is in a fact a set of screens that each represent part of a keyboard. But by some miraculous design team at Motorola, it looks like the MOTOSPLIT will be able to spit out the keyboard in either portrait or landscape mode. Since Motorola says there will be many new handsets for the year, a lot of them could just possibly be suckers, like the MOTOSPLIT. In this unfortunate case, it share the same specs as the BACKFLIP (as according to this render looks better) which are pretty low-end. Otherwise, Moto is aiming for a Q3 release on AT&T. Unknown Macbook Pro with Core i7 CPU spotted at Geekbench

Thanks to a very aware forum member at MacRumors, we know have a screenshot of a Geekbench score which claims that an unannounced Macbook Pro with a Core i7 M 620 processor got a score of 5260, which is far superior to all other Macbook Pros, which range in the 4000′s category. This MBP was also running Mac OS 10.6.2 ((Build 10C3067), which as of yet is unreleased. Fake or not, this only makes possible Macbook Pro owners all the more nervous (including myself) about a Core i7/i5 upgrade.
