New Leak: Motorola Quench XT5 with specs and photos

The guys at phone blog Cellpassion received the above image of the dubbed Motorola Quench XT5, along with specs and such. There’snot much on to report here, except to say that the Quench Xt5 has a trackball and dedicated talk/end keys. Other  than that, here’s what the tipster had to say about the specs:

Pellegrino Limonata Review: Save My Tastebuds, Please

Imagine this: going to the market (in this case, my Mom) and buying some groceries for tonight’s gourmet dinner. My Mother being a true chef and all, we don’t have to worry about what we’ll eat for dinner because we either create something new, or just have a classic Italian, Haitian, French, American, or anything-else-you-can-come-up-with dish (ceviche is tonight!).

Then one day she brought Sanpellegrino Limonata home (that was 2 days ago). And I’ve had 3 cans of it (I’m having one now while typing this review).

And I must quickly say it’s not worth it. Thing of a lemon soda, except too much lemon and not enough sugar but with tons of gas. Then imagine the packaging looking extremely polished, then getting disappointed. It’s like getting a Lemon Mac (that issue where new iMac screens a few months back had a yellow hue, which Mark Wilson, someone who’s been a great help to me, also had problems with).

So pretty much, that’s that in my opinion. This soft drink sucks.

Sony Alpha A33 and A55 feature translucent mirrors, 1080p HD recording, and extras

Both the Sony Alpha A33 and A55 use the new Translucent Mirror Technology with continuous phase-detect autofocus while shooting at up to 10 frames-per-second (7fps on the A33), and recording full AVCHD 1080p HD video.

There is also talk of the new sensors used in each DSLR; the 16.2 and 14.2 Exmor APS HD CMOS sensors for the A55 and A33, respectively. Both of these high-end bad-boy DSLRs come with articulated, 920k-dot, 3-inch LCD screens, with 3D panoramas and automated HDR shot creation. Lastly, $750 is the pricing set for the A55 in October and $650 for the A33 in September.

All in all, if you don’t want a Canon Rebel or Nikon D-Series camera, Sony’s new Alphas are pretty cool to look at and use. Problem is I’m a Nikon man.

Dell Streak on AT&T review

The Dell Streak — early name the Dell Mini 5 — has had its release with a ton of press coverage. One reason being that it was Dell’s first go at an Android tablet. Two, for the sake of it, it is an actually good looking Android tablet. A 5-inch WVGA screen with Gorilla Glass, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera on the back with a VGA front-facing, Wi-Fi/3G HSPA+/Bluetooth combo, a user-replaceable battery, along with a 16GB microSD card in our review unit which we tortured with tests for over the course of a week.

So how did the 5-inch Dell Streak Android 1.6 tablet fare?

T-Mobile G2 HSPA+ Android phone photographed (aka HTC Vision?)

So the HTC Vision (known to T-Mobile as the G2, successor to the first ever Android phone, the G1) was recently seen in one of the best photo-shoots of a leaked device this entire month. Mr. BlurryCam didn’t dare try a shot at this one!

In the meantime, there’s an awesoome-looking QWERTY, dedicated camera button, screen size of 3.7 to 4.0 inches, and a lot of awesome 1GHz power with HSPA+ “4G speeds” provided by T-Mobile.

Maybe I’d get one….

DROID Pro is actually the DROID 2 GSM edition, LG enV Touch2 will run Android 2.1??

According to a very close source to Engadget, the DROID Pro is in fact the DROID 2, customized to have support for GSM SIM cards, and perhaps dual CDMA/GSM radios. The naming DROID Pro may not be final due to the fact that Verizon loves switching up names at the last minute (something I can actually confirm), so let’s let that rest.

On the flipside, the LG enV Touch 2 will be much like the enV Touch, but being bulky and having two screens, as well as Android 2.1.

So now here’s the 60k question: would you be disappointed if the DROID 2 were simply a SIM’d DROID 2, and not a Droid “pro”?

Nikon’s D3100 Is Official: 14 megapixels, 1080p video, $700

The Nikon D3100 that we’ve all been waiting for is official, with at least two disappointments (seen below). There’s the specs though,which I definitely think are awesome:

  • 14.2 megapixel sensor
  • 1080p/24 video or 720p/VGA/24/30 (H.264/AVCHD)
  • 3″ LCD (230k dots/320×240 pixels resolution) (that stinks!)
  • 11-point autofocus (yay!)
  • Continuous autofocus in video mode (contrast-based)
  • 3FPS burst rate (a shame)
  • In-camera editing of video (clipping, basically)
  • ISO 100-3200 (expandable to 12800)

Otherwise, the D3100 is going to be released in mid-September, for $699.95 including a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR kit lens. It can also recognize 35 faces in one shot, which I’m quite sure no one can have a use for, but you will with the 12800 ISO range option in the camera’s settings. PR after the read more link.

The Dell Streak Goes Downtown — In A Teardown

So the Dell Streak has gone to meet its demise. Its transformation to the dark side of technology. To a site called iFixit, where they do anything but “fix” things on a daily basis.

Cut the drama short, and the Dell Streak was dismantled to every last bit. The team at iFixit declared that the Streak truly has a 1GHz Snapdragon, a 5 megapixel camera that “closely resembles” the iPhone 4’s, Gorilla Glass, and a 2 GB non-user accessible micro-SD card. On a sort of interesting scale of 1 to 10, 8 is the rating given to the Streak. This meaning that on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the easiest), the Streak is an 8 to dismantle for a ‘regular’ user.
