News flash from Google’s PR! A new Chromebook will debut for only $249, built by Samsung. It’s ARM-based (uses no fan), has an 11.6-inch 1336 x 768 display, 0.8-inches thick, weighs just 2.43 pounds, runs 6.5+ hours on battery, boots in under 10 seconds and supports 1080p video playback. Also part of the package is a USB 3.0 and 2.0 port, full-sized keyboard, microphone/headset jack, and SD card slot.
And just to top it off: the dual-core A15-based Samsung Exynos 5 Dual (5250) SoC powers the new Chromebook, plus 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in flash storage, WiFi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth. Sweet stuff. Pre-orders start today.
