At the AT&T Unwrapped event here in NYC, I’ve had the chance to play with some unreleased hardware. In my ongoing coverage of the devices here, I encountered some PR friends, and with that they detailed the Samsung Ativ Smart PC with Windows 8 (a practically final version, according to Samsung). This is Samsung’s Microsft Surface competitor, and it has a very premium feel — essentially it feels very different compared to the Galaxy Note 10.1 which I reviewed a few months prior.
Samsung Ativ Smart PC Hands-on!
The Ativ Smart PC packs in an 11.6-inch 1366×768 display, is 8.9mm thick, 4G LTE on AT&T, and weighs 20 ounces. Processing power is decent, with 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 2 Gigabytes of RAM, and either 32 or 64 gigs of storage. Also included is the industry-standard Bluetooth 4.0 with NFC and GPS chips, and finally, USB 2.0 and mini-HDMI ports. 5MP back-facing and 1.9MP front-facing cameras are also included.
According to our lovely Samsung rep, the Ativ will launch in time for the holiday season.
